Who is Betty Gilpin’s husband, Cosmo Pfeil?
According to reports, Betty Gilpin's husband, Cosmo Pfeil, attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. From there, he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in fine and studio arts. After this, he tried his hand in acting. He was seen playing the role of ‘Pvt. Nate Mountain’ in the 2004 film, Company K. Some of the other films and television projects he starred in since then include The Good Wife, The Northern Kingdom, and Person of Interest.
Cosmo has also delved into directing. He has served as an assistant director for Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter, and Providence. However, it seems that Cosmo decided to go on a different path in his career, as a 2022 profile described him as a nurse.
It is worth mentioning that this is not Cosmo’s first job outside the entertainment industry. Previously, he had worked at various nonprofit organizations. He had served as the director of operations at CAN-DO.org. The organization is known for providing aid to communities in need. Later, he also worked as the director of operations at GiveLove Haiti, Eco-Sanitation.
Coming to Cosmo Pfeil and Betty Gilpin's relationship, the duo met for the first time while working on the set of the 2009 drama, The Northern Kingdom. For the unversed, the movie was filmed in Andes, New York, and follows three families during a meteor shower on a winter night.
Directed by Dorothy Lyman, the couple interestingly played the roles of siblings ‘Carissa’ and ‘Glen’ in the film. It was about seven years after their first meeting on set that Cosmo and Betty tied the knot in 2016. Betty and Cosmo are the parents of two daughters. They welcomed their first daughter, Mary, in November 2020, and their second daughter was born in May 2024.

Despite working mostly outside of Hollywood at present, Cosmo is one of the biggest supporters of Betty and her career. This is evidenced by the fact that he joined the actress on location while she filmed the 2025 Western mini-series, American Primeval. In the film, Betty Gilpin played one of the leads, ‘Sara Rowell.’
Many might not be aware, but Betty was pregnant with their second daughter while filming. Recalling the time, she admitted that it wasn't the easiest to work in that state, but having her husband and daughter nearby helped. In her words:
“That was my grand equalizer. I would spend my days screaming bloody murder in a petticoat on a horse, then get home and hunch over in a candy cane position and do bath and bedtime. Being a mom in an Airbnb is way harder than filming on top of a ski mountain in below-zero degrees.”
During an interview, Betty Gilpin gushed about her husband. The actress described how her and Cosmo’s interests differed, yet their relationship still worked well. She said:
“He knew every tree type by leaf and liked to cook obscure organs with peppers that made my eyes rain. He could talk for an hour straight about the make of a table leg or a hawk’s itinerary. As for me, when a printer is out of ink, I fantasize about throwing the printer away.”
