Surrogate McKenna West's Baby's Biological Parents Speak For The First Time, Call Her 'Unstable'

Omkar Ahmed and his wife, Nausheen Gilkar, are shattered as parental rights are currently denied to them. They wanted McKenna to abort the baby. Wiping away her tears, Nausheen stated that the baby with McKenna is their child. Gilkar further said:
"He's our child. She's unstable. She's trying to take him from us."
Nausheen and her husband, Omkar, had stated that they had named their newborn Rumi. McKenna's attorney stated that she is looking for sole conservatorship so that she can make medical decisions for the kid. It has not yet been determined whether the judge will issue an order related to the case.
Mckenna had earlier told the court that she was 23 weeks pregnant when the couple had urged her to go for an abortion. However, West stated that she was not at all comfortable with the same. After West gave birth to the child, the pair had obtained a restraining order that stopped her from holding or seeing the child. West had shared:
"I knew that this baby, despite the diagnosis, had a great chance at survival and a great chance at leading a long life."
California couple reveal that the condition of their child has worsened
The court documents filed by the attorney of the pair mention that baby Rumi has been in a critical condition. He is suffering from potential complications due to his hypoplastic left heart syndrome. For the unversed, it is a congenital defect where one side of the heart is underdeveloped because normal blood flow is prevented.
Even on social media, users are only looking up to the baby’s condition (hypoplastic left heart syndrome), and it seems like treatment through surgeries has come a long way. There have been discussions related to the couple facing a lot of medical debt due to the surgeries, as one shared on Reddit:
"But we’re talking major heart surgeries in childhood, including right after birth, and likely a lot of therapies, and I bet an extreme amount of medical debt. I totally get why the parents would have wanted termination because it doesn’t always have a good outcome, but at least now that baby is here I hope it gets the best treatment and can live a long healthy life."
It is a very messed up situation, as the baby was born despite the wishes of the parents. Now, the biological parents want to maintain their custody. Users are concerned about the newborn baby, who is going through a lot.
A report by the Associated Press stated that after McKenna didn’t terminate the pregnancy, there was a plan for her to give birth in LA so the baby would get continuous care. And now with this legal battle the baby will have to undergo a lot of painful procedures and is tied in a legal mess.
Nausheen, who is the biological mother of the child, stated that her child is in a very serious state. Gilkar told the court that the baby had no blood flow to the left side of his heart. Since surgery, she said, he has gasped for air, choked on tubes and needed a blood transfusion. Nausheen revealed:
"He's the most beautiful person I've never seen. He's the love of our lives. He's suffering a lot."
