It has been nearly three years since actor, Matthew Perry's death, but even today, the case continues to grab headlines. For those unaware, the Friends actor tragically passed away in October 2023 at the age of 52. According to an autopsy report from the same year, it was revealed that the acute effects of ketamine were what caused his death. Now, recent reports are claiming that Matthew's former assistant is facing claims of evidence destruction.
Recently, according to a new court filing that TMZ got their hands on, federal prosecutors have claimed that Matthew Perry's former assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, had gone into damage control mode immediately after the actor died. Allegedly, he directed another person to destroy the ketamine evidence that was left behind. He also told them to shred the documents and scrub the digital records clean. Not only this, the feds revealed that Kenneth had repeatedly lied to investigators. At first, he allegedly hid the fact that he was the one who had injected Matthew Perry with multiple ketamine shots on the day of his death. Following this, he claimed that the actor had hidden the ketamine bottles himself.

According to the prosecutors, that is completely untrue. In the filing, they stated that Kenneth had instructed a person reportedly identified as “B.M.” to dispose of the ketamine vials as well as the syringes after Matthew died. They went on to allege that he had ordered the person to shred a ketamine prescription document and a handwritten note identifying Dr. Salvador Plasencia as a ketamine source. As per the feds, Kenneth had later admitted to some of the cleanup that he ordered over a phone call with middleman, Erik Fleming. He allegedly said that he “cleaned up the scene,” got rid of bottles and syringes, “deleted everything,” and even went on to change the passwords on Matthew Perry's devices.

While Kenneth Iwamasa had argued that he was simply a live-in assistant who was following the actor's instructions, prosecutors are firmly pushing back on it. They are claiming that Kenneth had abused the trust that was placed in him by both Matthew and his family, who had believed at the time that he would help protect the actor especially since he was going through addiction struggles.

The claims against Matthew Perry's former assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa comes right at the heels of the sentencing of Jasveen Sangha a.k.a. the ‘Ketamine Queen.' For those unaware, Jasveen, who had previously admitted to distributing the ketamine that reportedly caused Matthew's death in 2023, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on April 8, 2026. She had pleaded guilty to a number of charges in September 2025. This includes one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of distribution of ketamine, and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury.

According to a sentencing memorandum which had been obtained by People, the prosecutors had asked for a 15-year prison sentence and that's exactly what they received. In the memo, the prosecutors further alleged that Jasveen kept on selling drugs, despite finding that the ketamine she sold was what caused Matthew Perry's overdose death. They wrote:
"She didn't care and kept selling. [The] Defendant's actions show a cold callousness and disregard for life. She chose profits over people, and her actions have caused immense pain to the victims' families and loved ones. That defendant had the opportunity to stop after realising the impact of her dealing — but simply chose not to."

Kenneth Iwamasa had cut a plea deal with federal prosecutors in 2024, but at present, they are seeking 41 months behind bars for him.
