Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s first meeting dates back to 1991. Notably, the duo met each other through Sarah’s brothers, Pippin and Toby. Matthew later sent a voicemail to Sarah, who recalled in a conversation with the New York Times that the actor gave her a “charming” message on her machine. The duo then collaborated on a Broadway show, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, in 1996. Sarah described Matthew as the funniest person she had ever met and continued:

“He’s so bright, so handsome, I think he’s the most handsome man I’ve seen in my life. And he inspires me. I’m mad for him, totally.”

Six years after they first met, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick tied the knot at the Angel Orensanz Synagogue in New York City in May 1997. Notably, the wedding ceremony was a surprise for the duo’s family members and close friends. Around 100 people were invited to a party, and they were not aware of the fact that it was a marriage. While speaking to PEOPLE in 2018, Sarah opened up on whether there was a period where she found that Matthew was the special one in her life, saying that she never thought much about it.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick had a son named James Wilke in October 2002. While James has continued appearing with his parents on various occasions, his current profession remains a mystery. The pair welcomed twins, Marion and Tabitha, in June 2009. The couple opted for surrogacy this time, which was a result of multiple attempts to get pregnant. However, they were not ready to follow the conventional path. Sarah addressed the same while speaking to Vogue and said:

“I would give birth as often as I could, if I could. I cherished all the milestones, the good and the bad.”

Sarah had previously appreciated Matthew in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2013, as she said:

“I love Matthew Broderick. Call me crazy, but I love him. We can only be in the marriage we are. We’re very devoted to our family and our lives. I love our life. I love that he’s the father of my children, and it’s because of him that there’s this whole other world that I love.”

Sarah recalled the period when she realised that Matthew was the love of her life. She said that she and Matthew kissed each other on two different occasions. The first moment happened near an apartment, and the second was at a subway station.

While speaking to Andy Cohen in the same year, Matthew said that he witnessed Sarah walking down the street, following which he decided to be with her forever. Notably, the duo has continued accompanying each other on various occasions for all this time, including the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala in October 2023.
