Matt Brown's death has come as a major shock to his fans. The reality TV star died at the age of 43, and now, his brother, Noah Brown, has shared some heartbreaking updates on how the search team found his body. During a conversation with Us Weekly, Noah even shared how he personally identified his brother's remains.
Noah Brown opened up about the search efforts and the discovery of his late brother, Matt Brown's remains. According to reports, the team had been searching for Matt for a couple of days, and he had been in constant contact with the two non-profit teams looking for him. He shared that one of the smaller local teams decided to join the search on Saturday, May 30, 2026 (ET), and texted him around 3:30 PM to say they had found Matt. He was quoted as saying:
"For the past couple of days, I've been communicating back and forth with the different search teams. There were two separate search teams that would look for him. They were nonprofits, and we're all communicating. One of the smaller, more local teams decided to go out yesterday, and I think it was about 3:20-something, 3:27, 3:28, something like that — they texted me and told me they had found him. So I rushed down to the spot."

Local authorities also confirmed that Matt Brown's body was recovered from the Okanogan River in Washington state on Saturday, May 30, 2026 (ET). An updated press release shared by the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office's official Facebook page on Sunday, May 31, 2026 (ET), read in part. "The individual was recovered and brought to shore, where he was positively identified as Matthew Brown."

In the same conversation, Noah Brown told Us Weekly that rather than "leaving the body where it was," the small search team decided to load Matt "into a small skiff" and move his body "to shore." He further revealed that soon "the rest of the people who were looking and I hauled the skiff up further on the shore, and that's where it was...when the coroner came. Right now, all I can say is that he was lost in the river, and we found him." Noah confirmed that his brother is currently at the coroner's and "they're going to do an autopsy." For the unversed, "they haven't yet released the cause of death". However, his brother, Bear Brown shared in a Saturday social media post that he believes his brother Matt's death was "self-inflicted."

It was via TikTok that Noah Brown confirmed that he was present when his brother's body was found and helped local authorities to identify his body. The Alaskan Bush People star tells Us Weekly that he is still processing the moment he realised the body was his brother's. He revealed that he was present at the time of the search and later to identify the body because he felt like he was the most prepared to do so. He was quoted as saying:

"I'm kind of compartmentalising, kind of focusing on, like, what the next thing is I'm supposed to do. I knew I needed to be there to identify him. It's not just for the sheriffs and everything. My family has this thing that if we don't see the body and one of us is able to confirm otherwise, there is, like, a little glimmer of hope that maybe they're still out there. His ID was on him; his Social Security was on him. And I, personally, I personally ID'd him. They unzipped the body bag for me, and I was able to visually ID [my brother]."
