Wai Ching Ho, best known for her work in 'Daredevil' and 'Iron Fist', has passed away at 82. Now, her fans and co-stars are paying their tributes to her on social media.

In a piece of tragic news, Hong Kong actor Wai Ching Ho has passed away. According to reports, she took her last breath at the age of 82. She was best known for her unforgettable character, ‘Madame Gao’ in Marvel’s Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. Her career spanned nearly four decades. Well, it was Wai Ching Ho’s Daredevil co-star, Peter Shinkoda, who confirmed her death.

The news of Wai Ching Ho's death was announced by Peter Shinkoda, who portrayed ‘Nobu Yoshioka’ in the first season of Daredevil. Sharing the news on his official Instagram handle, he wrote, “Just lost someone very special to me. She was one of the coolest. Thinking aloud.” Peter posted another tribute for the veteran actress, writing:

“I won't ever forget you. I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set. We will meet again, my friend. You were beautiful.” 

Later, actor Mahira Kakkar also penned an emotional tribute for Wai Ching Ho. For those unaware, Mahira had worked alongside the late actress in the National Asian American Theatre Company’s two-part adaptation of Shakespeare’s Henry VI. She also shared a dressing room with her during the production. In her tribute, Mahira recalled how warm and generous a person Ching Ho was off stage. She wrote:

“I had the enormous good fortune to work with Wai Ching Ho and to share a dressing room with her. She was incredible- warm, funny, caring, joyful, positive and a truly wonderful actor. At the age of 82? 83? She played a lead role -basically a female King Lear, and was riveting.”

Mahira also remembered Ching Ho for her caring nature. According to her, she would often share simple advice with those around her. She revealed how grateful she was to the Marvel star and wrote:

“She would say to us- Eat two slices of raw ginger every day and you won’t get sick! For those of us who did not have a lot of role models and mentors in the industry Wai was a pillar. I am deeply grateful I got to know her and I am very sad she is gone. She also utterly refused to speak ill of anyone. My dear Wai you deserve all the standing ovations- what a stellar human and a stellar artist. What an example of how to live.”

Reacting to the news of Wai Ching Ho's death, her fans also took to social media to mourn her. One user wrote, “So sad, I hope she passed with loved ones. She was an amazing actress in the Daredevil shows. May she rest in peace.” Another user wrote, “Wow and I’m literally at the tail end of the OG Daredevil Netflix series. RIP to one of the goats in that show. She was such an amazing actor.” 

A third user penned, “Her presence brought such gravitas to every scene she was in what a loss to the acting world.” A fan who met Ching Ho in real life recalled the time and wrote, “I met her at a con years ago and got her autograph. An incredible talent with so much presence, as well as a sweet, intelligent, and cheerful soul to speak with! She told me how much it meant to her to have such a beloved role so late in her career. RIP to a legend!” 

More about Wai Ching Ho

Wai Ching Ho was born in Hong Kong but later moved to the US to begin her acting career. Soon, she became a familiar face at the National Asian American Theatre Company (NAATCO), where she had performed in both classic and contemporary productions. 

It is worth noting that beyond Marvel, Ching Ho had appeared in several hit films like The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Premium Rush, and The Last Airbender. She had also lent her voice to ‘Grandma Wu’ from Turning Red.
