The recently-released film, Major is receiving a lot of love and appreciation from the audience. The biographical drama is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who had sacrificed his life during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack at the Taj Palace Hotel. The film is directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka and is produced by iconic actor, Mahesh Babu. Talking about Major's cast, popular South Indian actor, Adivi Sesh portrays the character of Major Sandeep in the film. Other than him, the film stars actors like Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, Revathi, and the list goes on.
According to multiple reports, Adivi Sesh's Major has collected a whopping sum of Rs. 24 crores so far worldwide. Also, it is the first film of Adivi's career to cross 1 million USD in the United States of America and is expected to rise in the coming weeks. Domestically, the film is performing quite well and is giving tough competition to Rakshit Shetty's film, 777 Charlie.

Before the film's release, a screening of the film, Major was held in Bangalore. Some of the biggest celebrities of the Indian film industry attended the event, and Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's parents were also invited to the screening. Recalling the same in a conversation with the media present there, the film's lead actor, Adivi Sesh shared that Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother, Dhanalakshmi Unnikrishnan wore the same saree that she had donned 23 years ago at her son's pipping ceremony. Not only this, but the doting mother also wore the wristwatch that her son had gifted to her. Recalling the emotional moment, Adivi Sesh said:
"Two days before the release, we did the premiere in Bangalore. Amma (the late Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother) called me and said 23 years ago I wore this saree for Major Sandeep's graduation; today I'm wearing this saree for you. She showed me the watch he gave her and she came to watch the film."
Going further in his revelation, Adivi Sesh shared how the film meant so much to Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother, Dhanalakshmi Unnikrishnan, and it only made him emotional and proud at the same time. The actor admitted that the moment he had met her inside the event, he had hugged her for some minutes and called it a 'surreal feeling'. Talking more about the way she and her husband, K. Unnikrishnan, praised him for his performance in the film, he said:
"I kid you not, the moment I saw her I hugged her for 4 minutes and I held their hands while watching the film. It was a surreal feeling, parents watching a film inspired by their son who is no longer there – After the film they gave me a kiss, I held their hands and sat on the floor and in that moment I knew we won."

On June 3, 2022, Adivi Sesh had taken to his Instagram handle and had shared two pictures on his feed. The first picture was from the emotional moment he had with Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother, Dhanalakshmi Unnikrishnan, at the film's screening. The second photo was of him sitting on the floor and getting feedback from Sandeep Unnikrishnan's father, K. Unnikrishnan and his mother, who could be seen sitting on a bench. The pictures are doing rounds on social media even to this very day as it speaks volumes about the bond Adivi Sesh shares with Sandeep Unnikrishnan's parents.
