Pakistani superstar, Mahira Khan, became a force to be reckoned with ever since she stepped into the world of glitz and glam. Along with being one of the biggest names in Pakistan’s showbiz, the 38-year-old has also enchanted the audience with her charms in Bollywood as well. Mahira starred opposite King Khan, SRK, in the 2017 action film, Raees.
As per the latest reports, the Pakistani diva, Mahira, might be gracing our screens again with an Indian film. For the unversed, Mahira Khan’s last project, a drama named Razia, received much love and appreciation from the audience, particularly because of the message that the miniseries gave out. It is also worth noting that the actress also got married for the second time in October 2023 to her long-time beau, Salim Karim.

According to several reports, Mahira Khan is once again going to work on an Indian project, and this time not from Bollywood. The 38-year-old Pakistani actress has reportedly been roped in for the much-awaited film, L2: Empuraan. There are rumours that actor-director, Prithviraj Sukumaran's upcoming action thriller may have Mahira Khan as the female lead opposite the superstar, Mohanlal. These reports went rife after the Bombay High Court lifted the ban that was imposed on Pakistani artists, which prevented them from working in any Indian films.
Another connection that makes the speculations justified is that the director of the film, Prithviraj Sukumaran and his wife, journalist-producer, Supriya Menon, are good friends with Mahira Khan and her husband, Salim Karim. Recently, a photo of the two couples with a friend while on a vacation in the Maldives went viral on social media, leading to speculation that Mahira Khan could be making her debut in Malayalam cinema with the sequel to the 2019 film, Lucifer.
The upcoming film, L2: Empuraan, reportedly is going to have a star cast, including Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sai Kumar, Shivaji Guruvayoor, and Baiju Santhosh. However, the makers have not responded to any such claims yet. The production house has already started filming it since October 2023.

During an interview with a Pakistani media outlet, Mahira Khan even expressed her fondness for Malayalam movies and recommended her friends and fans to watch them. According to her, the Malayalam film industry produces the best films regarding story, acting and production value. She also expressed her desire to work in the industry in the future. She said:
“Have you ever watched Malayalam films? I am not talking about Telegu or Tamil films, I am talking about Malayalam films. Their cinema is, aap soch bhi nahi sakte ki kya ideas hai aur kya direction hai.”
We are super excited to see Mahira Khan back in the Indian cinemas.
