After the announcement in May 2019, that they are expecting their first child, Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali became proud parents to a baby girl on August 21, 2019. Mahhi and Jay announced the ‘big news’ of their lives on Instagram, with a glimpse of their baby girl from Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. The elated daddy, who was seen kissing two tiny feet of his little princess, had captioned it as, “The future just arrived,a brand new baby here to play. Just a while back, Mahhi Vij took to her Instagram and thanked her parents for being there for her during these nine months. Acknowledging how her mother took care of her and thanking her father for managing without her mother, Mahhi wrote, “This journey wouldn’t have been possible without you two. From being my cook to my helper to managing with my temper. I love you mom. Even in high bp you were cooking for me without any complains. Kept your health aside just to take care of me. Thank u papa for managing without mom, I love you. You mean the world to me. God answered your prayers your little princess is here. It was on the singing reality show, Superstar Singer, wherein Jay Bhanushali had expressed his wish for a baby girl. And God finally fulfilled his wish on August 21, 2019. On the show, Jay had revealed, "No relationship in the world can match the sanity of a father-daughter relationship and I wish that when my wife gives birth to a baby, she is a baby girl. I have no preference as such and it is not that I won't like if a baby boy is born but I admire this bond and since I have had a father-son connect with my father, now when I have a child, I want a daughter so that I can experience this too."
In an interaction with the IANS, Jay Bhanushali had shared his excitement on becoming a father and had remarked, "It is a fascinating feeling to be a parent all over again and it is even more thrilling because this is our first kid together. I want to help Mahhi in whatever ways possible. I would want Mahhi to take complete care of herself and our baby, so to help her not missing out on her sleep later in the months, I am learning lullabies and practising it daily."
Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali, who have embraced parenthood after nine years of married life, had enjoyed the pregnancy phase to the fullest. But ever since Jay and Mahhi had announced the good news, they were surrounded by questions about the reasons behind the late pregnancy and if they had faced infertility issues. Putting all speculations to rest, Mahhi had written a soul-stirring note, revealing that it was her decision to wait before embracing motherhood. Mahhi had written, "After so many messages on infertility!! I want to put this straight to all... that I was not going through any infertility issue!! It was my sole decision to wait and be a better child myself and do all my duties.... I had my own share of responsibilities towards my parents... to have a child is beautiful... but to be a responsible child is much more...
