In July 2018, on Rajeev Khandelwal’s celebrity chat show, Juzz Baat, Jay Bhanushali had promised babies to his wife, Mahhi Vij. On the show, looking at his wife, Jay had said, "We have been discussing having babies for a while now, so let us take this forward.” Mahhi couldn’t hold back her tears and had hugged Jay so tight that proved how she was longing for that day. Post announcing that he is expecting their first child with wife, Mahhi Vij, Jay Bhanushali had expressed his wish to have a baby girl. While hosting for the singing reality show, Superstar Singer, Jay had shared, "No relationship in the world can match the sanity of a father-daughter relationship and I wish that when my wife gives birth to a baby, she is a baby girl. I have no preference as such and it is not that I won't like if a baby boy is born but I admire this bond and since I have had a father-son connect with my father, now when I have a child, I want a daughter so that I can experience this too."
Looks like God has been all-ears to Jay Bhanushali’s wishes as in 2019, he got what he had yearned for! He became a father to a little angel, for whom he had wished for. Jay and Mahhi became proud parents to a baby girl on August 21, 2019, and a few days later, the newbie parents are finally taking their little bundle of joy home. Mahhi gave birth to their little angel at the Breach Candy Hospital, and on September 6, 2019, she along with her hubby, Jay was snapped in the car, taking their daughter home. While Jay and Mahhi happily smiled for the media, their little one was wrapped in a blanket and cuddled in her daddy’s arms. On August 27, 2019, Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali had posted the first proper picture of their teeny-weeny bunch of happiness! In the caption, Jay and Mahhi had shared that they have finalised on the first letter of their baby girl’s name, but would require suggestions. Just a few days after Mahhi Vij gave birth to her little angel, the newbie mommy was not only flooded with the congratulatory messages but also became a target of body-shaming. When a woman embraces motherhood, during the nine months her body goes through a zillion changes and one of them is gaining the post-pregnancy weight. In a stern message written to the trollers posted as one of her Instagram stories, Mahhi had bashed them all and had written, "To all the idiots who are worried about my weight, my priority is feeding my baby not my figure."
In an interview with SpotboyE, recalling the moment when the doctor told her that ‘It’s a girl’, Mahhi Vij had narrated, “Well, as soon as I heard the cry, I asked 'What is it?'. Jay screamed 'Baby'. I was still not clear whether he means a baby girl or baby boy. The doctor quickly chipped in, "It's a girl".” Revealing how does junior Mahhi looks like, the newbie mommy said, “A mix of Jay and me.”
Speaking about being troller for her post-pregnancy weight gain, Mahhi Vij had stated, “Yes I did, you see I don't want any negativity. It would have perhaps otherwise snowballed into yet another controversy for me. As it is, people say anything to each other on social media. I have still not forgotten the way some Internet users reacted against me when I put out the post regarding Bakri Id (SEE POST BELOW). They even made it into a Hindu Muslim thing. They said they would have slapped me if I was not pregnant. They said 'Don't teach us when you yourself eat non-veg'. They abused me what not. Isn't it time we learn to be in happy space and stop plotting and scheming against each other? Isn't it time to realise we are going wrong?”
In an interview with the Bombay Times, post welcoming their daughter, an all-elated daddy, Jay Bhanushali had expressed the feeling of becoming a father. He had said, “I can’t describe the feeling. I have just become the father of a very beautiful child and I thank God for being kind to us. She is a little angel and I can’t wait to bring her home. I wish to give her all the happiness in life, and that will be my aim now.
