We met each other at med school and have been dating ever since. The rest as they say is history. Once we set the date for our big day we began saving up for organizing our wedding. We chose to get married in Mumbai during Diwali. We began looking for venues six months in advance. With strict budget in mind and over 200 people to invite, we were running short of options. After much thought and weighing options we decided to get married at the Iskcon temple in Mumbai and by then our wedding planner had stepped in to help. I always believed that wedding planners would be an expensive addition to our wedding expenses and wanted to stay away from them. After I met Reena, our wedding planner, I changed my mind! Reena and her team were on hand to help us every step of the way with logistics, advice and ensured that the day was a huge success. And their bill did not burn a hole in my purse, rather it brought a huge smile to my face and I could not thank them enough!
I remember Reena asking me, “So, what have you thought of for your wedding? Any particular theme?” I replied, “I want it classic, simple and beautiful” I really wondered if it helped at that time but when I was stepping into my bright mandap, I knew that Reena had ensured that it was just the way I wanted it. The use of bright yellow flowers and the abundance of flowers throughout the hall were stunning. Lunch was liked by all, we served North Indian Tandoori style cuisine to our guests. We even had a Karahi stand for each table.
I wore a fushcia pink ghagra choli for the ceremony and changed into a fishtail bridal lehenga for the reception. Vignesh wore a traditional copper silk sherwani for the ceremony and flaunted his Armani suit at our reception. The banquet hall for our reception was decorated in various hues of gold and the chairs complemented the décor with gold organza bows. The effect was stunning and it literally took our breath away! The cocktails and canapés were loved the guests. A lovely two course meal with cake for desert followed and we had so much fun dancing to our favorite tracks including Stuck On You by Lionel Ritchie. I just did not want the night to end!
The wedding photographs are a constant reminder of the magical day and we cannot thank our photographer enough for capturing various moods and candid moments!
