However, news of their separation came in October 2025, and now, almost a year later, reports have revealed that the Full House actress has finally filed for divorce. It is worth noting that their divorce comes years after the two were embroiled in a high-profile college admissions scandal, something that many believe ultimately led to their divorce.
Lori Loughlin’s husband thought she was the ‘driving force’ behind their college admissions scandal
Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s respective careers and reputations took a significant hit after their high-profile college admissions scandal. It even prompted a painful “blame game” between the once-loving couple, and it seems that they were never really able to overcome it.
Reports suggested that Mossimo thought Lori was the driving force behind their decision to pay a massive sum of USD 500,000 in bribes to get their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose Giannulli, enrolled at the University of Southern California. As per a source quoted by the Daily Mail:
“Their marriage was very strong before the (expletive) hit the fan with the college admissions scandal. That totally derailed it. His sales suffered. She lost Hallmark. They blamed each other, but he blamed her more.”

Before the scandal took place, Lori Loughlin enjoyed a thriving career as an actress, portraying the wholesome role of ‘Aunt Becky’ in Full House. She also appeared in other popular Hallmark Channel rom-coms and Christmas movies. Meanwhile, Mossimo created a clothing line sold at Target, which he later sold.
After the couple was arrested in 2019, Lori lost many acting jobs, and Target decided to distance itself from Mossimo. At that time, reports said that their friends dumped them because they were “very critical” of their actions.
Following their indictment, Lori and Mossimo spent over a year insisting on their innocence but to no avail. They finally pleaded guilty in May 2020. Lori was sentenced to two months in federal prison. Ahead of this, she told the court:
“I went along with a plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process. I ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass. I thought I was acting out of love for my children. But in reality, it only undermined and diminished my daughters’ abilities and accomplishments.”
Despite being sentenced to less time in prison than her husband, who received five months, highlighting that he was more culpable, a source close to Mossimo claimed that he blamed her as the “driving force” for all the corrupt methods that were used during the admission process. They stated:
“The entire family was embarrassed, and that was like a huge deal to Mossimo. It felt like he had built all this goodwill, publicly, and it was all gone. They were literally the butt of jokes on late-night TV. There was this perception that they were rich, and the worst kind of rich people, who use their wealth for unfair advantages.”
The source added that Lori really was at the forefront of everything and “Mossimo was embarrassed at what happened.” Since family was everything for him, he found the scandal extremely shameful, and from then on their relationship never really recovered.
