Forecasts had suggested storms around 3 pm, so starting earlier gave the race a better chance to run without interruption. Teams were informed about the decision in advance and agreed with the change. Organisers also wanted to avoid situations like the past, where races were heavily affected by rain. 

The memory of disrupted events, including races with very limited running, still influences such calls. With everything set earlier than planned, the race went ahead with full attention from fans in the stands and viewers around the world. The mix of sport, weather drama, and celebrity presence made the Miami Grand Prix one of the most talked-about events of the weekend, both on and off the track.
