Kristen Messner is an American photographer and interior designer based in Los Angeles, California. She was born on February 28, 1970, in Los Angeles. Messner began her career as a photographer, working on editorial projects. She later moved into residential interior design and has been featured in Traditional Home and Elle Decor for her work on upscale homes.
Based in Los Angeles, she has designed and built several notable residential properties in the area, including a custom Brentwood home completed in 2007. Her design style blends modern sophistication with classic elements and draws influence from the 1920s-1940s, the 1970s, and contemporary design.
She operates a design showroom where she curates home furnishings and decor. In interviews and profiles, her collections are described as being inspired by the aesthetics of Ralph Lauren, Kate Moss, and Givenchy.
Professionally, Messner has also been listed as a businesswoman. She shares aspects of her design projects and style inspirations on social media. Outside of her design work, she is noted as an equestrian and has participated in riding with her family. Kristen Messner is also active on Instagram with more than 8,400 followers.
Lindsey Buckingham and Kristen Messner tied the knot a long time ago in 2000
Kristen Messner and Lindsey Buckingham first met in 1996. Messner was working as a photographer and photographed Buckingham for the cover of his album. Lindsey also said in an interview in 2011 that he had been in many relationships and he was lucky to meet someone special so late.
Although they tied the knot in 2000, Kristen and Lindsey welcomed their first child, son William Gregory Buckingham, in 1998. Shortly after their marriage, the couple had a daughter named Leelee in 2000. The pair had another child named Stella, two years later, in 2004.
During their marriage, Messner and Buckingham built several homes together in the Los Angeles area. A custom Brentwood home was completed in 2007, with Messner taking a lead role in its design. In February 2019, Buckingham underwent emergency open-heart surgery. At the time, Messner posted supportive updates about his recovery on social media.
After 21 years of marriage, Messner filed for divorce in Los Angeles County in June 2021. Three months after the filing, Buckingham told PEOPLE in an interview in September 2021 that they were working on their marriage. He addressed the same by saying:
“Relationships in the long term can be challenging, and they have their ups and downs... over the last year Kristen felt she needed some time to herself, and I have been completely supportive of that.”
Before their divorce, Kristen Messner was an inspiration for Lindsey Buckingham’s single, When She Comes Down, included in the soundtrack of his album, Seeds We Sow.
