Lil Jon is trending on the headlines as his son, Nathan Smith, has been missing since February 3, 2026 (ET). Also known as DJ Young Slade, Nathan was last seen going out of his residence in Georgia and has not returned since then. While Lil Jon has not addressed anything directly about the ongoing matter from his side, Chase Houle, the rapper’s publicist, told 11Alive that the family needs privacy right now and has requested everyone to pray for Nathan’s safety.

Lil Jon has been active in the music industry since 1991. He has worked with multiple record labels, including Republic and Interscope. Lil has one solo album to his credits, Crunk Rock, which was released back in 2010. Lil Jon's son, DJ Young Slade, developed an interest in music as a toddler

DJ Young Slade was a toddler when he gave his voice to an important portion of the single, Bia Bia, released by Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz in 2000. He later started working in commercials and grabbed a few projects as an actor before he was a teenager. In 2008, Slade decided to become a DJ when he witnessed his father cheering the crowd at an after-party for the TransWorld Skateboarding Awards. Slade grew up in Atlanta and accompanied his father on various occasions while testing the records in Lil Jon’s car speaker. He previously worked as a DJ at a few weddings and school parties.

DJ Young Slade started his career by co-producing some songs

DJ Young Slade completed his higher studies in 2020 at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts’ Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Slade’s career started as a co-producer of various singles, such as Get It Girl, released by Saweetie in 2021. The single has been used in a commercial for Beats headphones alongside an episode of the show, Insecure, released on HBO. Lil has also joined his son in some singles, leading to collaborations with artists and groups like Ice Cube and Ying Yang Twins.

DJ Young Slade went on a tour with Zendaya at a young age

Before he enrolled at New York University, DJ Young Slade joined the Scratch DJ Academy. He was only 13 years old at that time. He began working with Zendaya a year after joining the academy. Slade joined the actress for a tour as a DJ. Back in 2025, Slade recalled the period, saying he was a “shy kid” and that going on tour with Zendaya helped him understand everything about stage performances and crowd control.

DJ Young Slade appeared on the second season of Family Legacy

Apart from being active as a DJ, Slade has been featured in the second season of the MTV docuseries, Family Legacy, which aired in March 2025. Slade opened up on the experience of participating in the show, saying that he had a chance to show respect to his father and reveal how much Lil Jon helped him to reach the position where he stands today. The series included a tour of Slade’s recording studio alongside Slade speaking up on the bond he shares with his father.
