The pictures shared by the late influencer's alleged friend showed her sitting on his lap and snuggled up as they posed for pictures. The pictures created a rift among social media users, with many bashing Sarah for posting them while fully aware he was in a relationship with Jamie Lyn Rin.
Amid the backlash, Sarah Tena has responded to the criticism, taking to the comment section and responding to one of the remarks. She alleged that what was disrespectful wasn't her pictures but rather the bullying Liam Fitzgerald faced in the month leading up to his death. Sarah shared that she had just made a post for her friend who has passed away. However, everyone has turned it into something about the pictures. Sarah even shared a picture of her and Liam kissing in the comment section. She added:
"This girl knew him for maybe 8 months of her life; I don't even care or know. I've known him for years, and I'm not going to let you weird people bully me into thinking my post is inappropriate. It's not. He doesn't have any photos of her up. He and I just talked, and I'm defending myself to you people obsessed with Liam. You all hated him when this girl made crying videos, but now you all love him?? Stfu, you're the disrespectful one."

While Sarah Tena has disabled the comments on the post, his girlfriend, Jamie Ryn Lin, has also responded to the buzz. Reacting to the post shared by Liam Fitzgerald's family on his Instagram account, Jamie called the late influencer the love of his life, said she forgave him for everything, and hoped he knew he was immensely loved.
She expressed her hurt over his passing and shared how she had imagined an entire life with him, something that would not happen anymore. Jamie Lyn Rin went on to call Liam Fitzgerald her person and revealed that a part of her knew he was "it" the very moment she met him. She added:
"From the moment I met you, something in my heart knew you were my person. Through the good, the bad, the ups and downs, that never changed. I would give anything for one more hug, one more kiss, one more conversation, one more chance to tell you how much I love you. A piece of my heart will always belong to you. I'll love you until the day I see you again in heaven. Not a single day will go by that I won't think of you. Forever my person. Forever loved."
However, as the buzz grew, Jamie Ryn Lin addressed the controversy and shared a story on her Instagram handle on the night of November 1, 2026. In the post, she revealed that she had seen the comments and wanted to clarify a few things. While she didn't name Sarah Tena by name or say that Liam had cheated on her, she admitted that he had apologized to her and spent every day after to prove to her that he was willing to change.
Jamie asserted that she loved Liam Fitzgerald and chose to give him another chance. She revealed that they were working on building something beautiful and chose to keep their relationship private because "social media can be overwhelming" and they wanted to focus on their bond without outside opinions. Jamie Lyn Rin added that they had gone on countless dates and celebrated each other.
Jamie Lyn Rin revealed that it was just days before his death that she and Liam Fitzgerald had decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend again. She concluded the note asking everyone to be kind and respectful towards Liam's family, friends, and everyone grieving the unimaginable loss. She added:
"Please understand that this is the hardest thing I have ever had to face. Losing someone you love so deeply and so suddenly is unimaginable. My heart is completely broken, and the last thing needed right now is judgment, assumptions, or speculation about our relationship. I loved Liam with all my heart. What we shared was real; it was special, and from day one, he had a place in my heart that nobody else could ever fill."
