The Telugu actioner, Lenin is finally out in theatres. Akhil Akkineni’s fans had been waiting eagerly for the film as it kept getting delayed. Many are also curious to see if Lenin can end Akhil’s dry spell in theatres and emerge as a big hit. Directed by Murali Kishore Abburu, the movie features Bhagyashri Borse and Shivaji alongside Akhil. For those on the fence about watching Lenin, here's a look at what viewers are saying on the movie's first day of release to help you decide.

Lenin X review

Lenin was released in theatres on July 10, 2026. As of now, those who have seen the film seem to have mixed reviews but couldn't help praise Akhil’s acting. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), a viewer wrote, “#Lenin delivers a rural revenge drama fueled by Akhil Akkineni's heartfelt performance, combined with a couple of good twists and intense dramatic sequences. Stronger, more consistent writing would have elevated it, yet it remains a decent watch.”

A critic wrote, “Akhil Akkineni is the only one who truly stands out with his performance, but the weak writing keeps the film from becoming a hit. The characters are poorly developed, and the constant attempt to draw parallels with characters from the Mahabharata only adds to the confusion. Those comparisons feel forced and ultimately serve no meaningful purpose. Bhagyashri looks superb on screen; Thaman’s background score is decent; Sivaji is wasted; cinematography is impressive. Don’t mess with Mahabharata characters if you don’t have a clear understanding of who they are.”

A third user penned, "Lenin: A revenge drama set in the Chittoor region, infused with Mahabharata references. The second half packs twists: some effective, some too convenient. Though familiar and reminiscent of a few earlier films, it ends up as an okay watch. #AkhilAkkineni delivers an improved performance. Thaman's BG score is a plus."

A fan who thought the movie lacks emotional impact wrote, “# Lenin, an average film. #AkhilAkkineni shines with an improved performance, while #Thaman's BGM stands out. The interval and climax work well, but the screenplay feels inconsistent, and the Story lacks emotional impact. #BhagyashriBorse delivers a good performance after a long time.”

One user who clearly loved the movie praised Akhil Akkineni's performance and added, “Lenin is a winner through and through. Akhil reinvents himself and delivers a confident, convincing performance in the title role. He carries the film with ease and proves that he’s willing to push himself. Bhagya Sree is a stunner on screen. Nandu keeps the narrative gripping, with no filler scenes once it gets into the core story. The screenplay stays engaging throughout.”

Akhil Akkeni’s former sister-in-law, Samantha Ruth Prabhu calls Lenin a ‘blockbuster’

Popular actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu took to her Instagram Stories to post about her former brother-in-law, Akhil Akkineni's movie, Lenin. Sharing Lenin’s trailer, she wrote in the caption, “Wishing Lenin @akkineniakhil and the whole team the very best. Big blockbuster vibes already.”

For those unaware, Akhil is the younger brother of Naga Chaitanya, whom Samantha was previously married to for four years. The duo reportedly got divorced in 2021. Since then, both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have moved on with their lives by remarrying. While Naga tied the knot with Sobhita Dhulipala, Samantha married Raj Nidimoru.

It is worth noting that Akhil has faced numerous setbacks in his career. His journey began with the 1995 film, Sisindri when he was just a baby. His 2015 film, Akhil, had failed to impress. Later, when he started in the romantic drama, Hello, it also received mixed reviews. Now, it is to be seen if Lenin can impress more viewers over the days.
