Learjet 60 crash on November 1, 2026, has left everyone shocked. The plane, flying to the Bahamas, crashed in Florida, claiming the lives of all nine people aboard. The news left everyone stunned. However, new evidence has been found, as investigators have discovered parts of the plane up to almost 4 miles from the crash site. Amid that, an ATC audio recording of the controller suggesting the pilots, Jeff Gregory and Nathalia Filgueiras, has also surfaced.

Learjet 60 pieces found miles away from the crash site

According to the latest update on the ill-fated crash on November 1, 2026, reports have revealed that pieces of the plane have been discovered miles away from the crash site in Florida. The update was shared by National Transportation Safety Board Member Tom Chapman in a press conference on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

According to reports, the authorities discovered "the majority of the aircraft's left elevator," which controls the aircraft's nose position and the angle of attack of the wing, between 1.3 and 3.8 miles away from the crash site in Palm Beach County. Tom Chapman revealed that the elevator was found in three pieces, as he went on to call it a "very significant piece of evidence." He explained what it means and said:

"It tells us that at least some components, some pieces of the aircraft, important pieces of the aircraft separated before the impact."

However, whether this has any direct link with the crash remains unclear. Meanwhile, Tom Chapman has alleged that at the speed the jet was traveling, the separated components likely would not have helped. The accident has caused many to have a serious discussion about aviation safety regulations as the investigation continues.

Tom Chapman revealed that while investigators have already collected a lot of evidence, the crash was so destructive that some pieces are so small officials don't yet know what they have. So far, the investigators have not searched the impact crater. However, they are hopeful to begin working on it from November 4, 2026. Tom shared that while it is going to be a "lot of work", the NTSB investigators are "terrific" at what they do. He added:

"I feel confident they're going to find the evidence they need."

ATC audio of the controller suggesting Learjet 60 pilots a route switch goes viral amid the crash

At the time of the crash, two pilots, including 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras, were on board, along with seven passengers, including Adam Robinson, tech entrepreneur from Austin, Texas, his wife Helen Sharp, their two kids, Emma Robinson and Charlie Robinson, the family nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, and their family friends,  Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.

In the audio that has now gone viral, the controller can be heard telling the pilots, "N722BD, the turn to Freeport looks pretty bad. There is moderate to extreme precipitation 11 o'clock and 25 miles, 100 miles in diameter." Who appears to be Nathalia Filguerias responds to the update and says they'll look into it. However, a while later, they reach back and say, "Center, 722BD, we're just going to FIMED and then Freeport."

Acknowledging their decision to stay on the route, the controller asks N722BD to "descend and maintain FL350." The control room once again updates the pilots, saying, "N722BD deviate. N722BD deviations left or right or course are approved. Freeport when able." They soon switch to a different airspace, to ATC Miami, where the audio of their Mayday call was reportedly extracted.

Aviation expert Justin Crabbe also reacted to the Florida plane crash in a conversation with NYP. According to Crabbe, the pilots should have avoided the storm by changing their route. The aviation expert said he doesn't know why the pilots didn't, but suspects they were eager to reach their destination in the Bahamas. Crabbe said:

"They certainly should have gone around the storm. Air-traffic control gave them the flexibility to deviate around that weather."
