The Japanese social media personality, who lived in South Korea, used to post under the username @sweeter_nk. The police reportedly responded to her home after receiving a number of concerned calls about an influencer in her 20s trying to harm herself during the livestream. Chan's death was confirmed the following day in a statement posted by an account said to belong to her younger sister.
According to reports, Seoul's Yongsan Police Station is investigating the circumstances surrounding Mina Chan's death. While there hasn't been any further update about what exactly went down, Chan's younger sister has confirmed her passing. Requesting the fans to give the family privacy, she penned:
"My beloved older sister, who was always kind and warm to everyone she met, has passed away. I kindly ask that you keep my sister in your thoughts and prayers."
Mina Chan's livestream suicide comes days after Perez Hilton's disturbing TikTok live. The consecutive incidents have raised concerns about self-harm content appearing on social media. While there is no link between the two incidents, it reflects on the safety protocols followed by social media. For the unversed, Hilton has also harmed himself while being live on social media, leading to several distressing calls to the authorities.

According to reports, Chan was facing criticism over an interaction at a United States concert in late July 2026.
According to reports, Mina Chan attempted to have fellow ENHYPEN member Sunoo deliver flowers to Ni-ki. However, some fans accused her of overstepping boundaries and attempting to draw attention away from the event. Soon, the criticism got intense, and Chan even issued a lengthy apology on her X account. A part of which can be read as:
"Sunoo knows very well that I like Sunki. The sunflowers were prepared for Sunoo and the roses for Niki. Wanting to see a 2-shot of those two was my own wish. As a result, I feel like my actions ended up taking advantage of Sunoo's kindness. I'm truly sorry. I feel so apologetic toward Sunoo and all the Sunoo fans."
Mina Chan also reflected on the number of ENHYPEN events she had attended and admitted that the repeated interactions had affected the way she viewed her relationship with the performers. She apologized to the fans and was quoted as saying:
"By attending ENHYPEN's fansigns multiple times, I had deluded myself into thinking I was closer to the members than I actually was. I deeply regret the rude behavior I exhibited in America. I ruined the atmosphere of the venue by prioritizing my own desire to meet Niki over the precious time Niki, who loves America so much, deserved. I'm truly sorry."
