Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleKim Kardashian is once again hogging the limelight for all things personal. She is known for being in several high-profile relationships, including with former NBA player Kris Humphries. The duo began dating in 2010 and tied the knot in 2011. However, fans were left shocked when their marriage ended in just 72 days. Now, in the new book Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created The Future, Kim is making a rare comment about why their marriage ended.
Kim Kardashian reveals she knew her marriage to Kris Humphries wasn't right
While speaking with journalist Jonathan Van Meter in the new book, Kim Kardashian confessed that she knew the exact moment that her marriage to Kris Humphries was over. She said that she “knew it before we were married in my soul” that Kris was not the right person for her. But despite knowing this, she still went ahead with the wedding. Kim explained that the reason behind this was that she did not want to be labeled a runaway bride by the media. She added:
“I just thought, ‘Well, it’s cold feet.’ But your gut, your soul, is always right. And then I thought, ‘Well, they’re filming for a show, and if I bail now, they’re going to call me ‘the runaway bride’ and it will be an even bigger thing.’ But I should have just not gotten married.”
Meanwhile, Van Meter, who spoke with Kim and her family in a number of interviews ranging from 2018 to 2026, claimed that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star referred to her marriage with Kris Humphries as one of “the biggest mistakes (and regrets) of her life.”

Kim Kardashian and Humphries got engaged after less than a year of dating. A two-part wedding special aired in October 2011, ironically, the same month Kim filed for divorce.
Kim Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner, revealed that she knew the reality star wasn't happy with Humphries. In fact, she even gave Kim the option to back out of the wedding without fearing the consequences. She said that all Kim had to do was get off there and she would take care of the rest. In her words:
“I knew she wasn’t happy. I went to her during the rehearsal, before the wedding. We were in this beautiful house in Montecito, [California], and the windows were open, and Robin Thicke was rehearsing some songs on the dance floor. And I remember listening to the song, and I said to her, ‘Listen … I can just … I feel like … you’re not making the right decision.’ And I said, ‘If you want to cancel the wedding, just get out of here, and I’ll figure it out.’”
Keeping Up With The Kardashians producer Farnaz Farjam has more insight into why she believes Kim went ahead with her wedding to Kris Humphries. According to her, Kim did not have the confidence to back out.

Farjam said that in the initial seasons of the show, Kim Kardashian was someone who would easily get shy, get vulnerable, and always wore her emotions on her sleeve. And while she liked being sexy and having all that attention, Kim was not confident at all. It was going through her divorce from Humphries and other hardships that helped build her confidence, which people get to witness today.
In December 2011, Kris Humphries filed a response to Kim’s petition for divorce and requested an annulment. He alleged that the marriage was a fraud for publicity. After Kim Kardashian denied the accusations, Humphries eventually dropped his case, and their divorce was officially finalized in June 2013.
