While we might not know how true it is, sometime back the duo was spotted on a secret date. However, when Karan Johar had asked Sidharth about the dating buzz on his show, Koffee With Karan, the actor had replied, “The amount of rumours I have had in the tabloids, I’m having lesser fun in real life. I wish they were true. Kiara is lovely. We are going to work together in future. But I’m single.”
And, now Kiara also opened up about the rumours surrounding her link-up at the recently held Filmfare Awards in Mumbai. She has clearly declined it all, and shared, “No, I'm not dating Sidharth Malhotra. I'm very single.” When she was further asked about how she manages all the rumours surrounding her link-up, Kiara revealed, “They are rumours only. Earlier, Sidharth was asked about his growing closeness with Kiara during a movie promotion, and the actor had stated, “Nahi yaar. I met her only once at Karan Johar’s party. After that I have not met her at all.” For those who don’t know, Sidharth was in a steady relationship with his Student of the Year co-star, Alia Bhatt.
However, they never accepted it in public, but when Sidharth sat on Koffee couch, he had admitted to Karan about his break-up, and had shared, “We haven't met after it. Our relationship is civil... I don't think it's bitter. It's been a while. I have known her for much longer even before we dated. I gave my first ever shot with her in SOTY so there is so much history. There is a reason why two people decide not to be together. There were lots of ups and downs. Sidharth was always vocal about his sad break-up with Alia, and had talked about it in another interview with Filmfare. He had revealed, “We started our journey together, we have done two films. Varun, Alia and I have a deep connect. We've shared many emotions and experiences together. So the bond will always remain.”
On being asked if he would work with Alia again in a film, the Kapoor and Sons actor had replied, “People keep telling us that we should do a film together. But let's see. It's a matter of us getting the right script and a director like Karan Johar. Because only he can manage that. But now he's doing Takht. Everyone is busy with their own journeys”.
