Khushi Kapoor is one of the rising star kids in contemporary times. The youngest daughter of the late actress, Sridevi and the film producer, Boney Kapoor, recently ventured into the world of glitz and glam with Zoya Akhtar’s film, The Archies. The same movie also featured other Gen Z celebs, such as Suhana Khan, Agasyta Nanda, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Dot, Vedang Raina, and others. For the premiere night of the film, the star cast attended its red carpet in their most fashionable OOTNs. However, everyone’s jaws dropped when Khushi Kapoor chose to wear her late mother, Sridevi’s dress for the event.
Khushi Kapoor wore her mother’s strapless golden-hued gown for the premiere night of her film, The Archies. The young debutante looked flawlessly gorgeous as she accentuated her look with a statement neckpiece, dainty earrings, and a sleek bun hairdo. Khushi’s OOTN reminded everyone of the legendary actress, Sridevi, who wore the same outfit for the IIFA 2013 red carpet. This iconic move was an ode to her late mother.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the young diva, Khushi Kapoor, explained why she chose to wear her mother's gown on such a big day. She revealed that for the premiere, she never wanted to make any style statement with her sartorial choices. Further, Khushi mentioned that people have been appreciating her fashion sense these days, but any experimentation on such a big day was not on her mind at all. She added:
“I was talking to my stylist before the premiere, who sent me options of different gowns I could have worn, new modern clothes. I am really into fashion, and been experimenting lately. People have started to appreciate and be interested in what I am wearing. When it came down to the premiere, I didn’t want to make any kind of fashion statement, it was an extremely big day for me.”
Khushi Kapoor recalled being extremely nervous days before the premiere. And that’s when the idea struck that she should wear something which would remind her of her mother. Khushi disclosed that she needed some extra support on the premiere night and she thought a dress or jewellery of her mother, Sridevi, would give her that comfort. She further said:
“I was nervous, and in the week leading up to it, I had an idea. I wanted to wear something of hers, whether it’s a piece of jewellery or a dress. I felt I needed some extra support that day. It is a big deal, I wanted her to be there with me in some way. So, I went through some of the old clothes we have here and picked it out.”

In the same interview, Khushi reminisced about the time when she used to visit the movie sets either with her mother or her father. When the interviewer asked her what movie sets, she had been to, Khushi revealed that she used to visit the sets of her late mother’s comeback movie, English Vinglish. She further mentioned that the film is one of her favourite movies of her mother. She said:
“Growing up, mom had taken a backseat from acting, when I was very little. I vaguely remember her doing a show called Malini Iyer, and going to those sets very often. I just started knowing this is what acting is. Of course, Dad had his own movie sets. I remember going to the sets of Wanted. The most vivid one for me is English Vinglish. I was around 12, old enough to be a part of the whole process. That was her first comeback film. We went to New York; I was there throughout the schedule. It’s one of my favourite films of hers.”
