Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar is one of the most successful writers in the Pakistani entertainment industry, Lollywood. He writes not only for television dramas but also for telefilms and movies. Some of his prominent features include dramas like Tumhare, Bunty I Love You, Landa Bazar, Chand Pur Ka Chandu, Manjali, Boota and more. Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar's upcoming dramas include Gentleman and Main Manto Nahi Hoon, for the promotion of which he recently appeared on the Excuse Me podcast with Ahmad Ali Butt.
Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar is known for his fierce nature and controversial opinions. In March 2020, the writer went on a rant on national television and abused women on record, which caused an uproar in Pakistan. While most netizens discouraged his actions, most celebrities avoided talking about it. However, Mahira Khan went on her Twitter (now X) account and called out Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar for his words.

On December 17, 2023, Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar appeared on Ahmad Ali Butt's podcast, Excuse Me, where he divulged that he is not angry with Mahira but hates her to his core. There are a few people in his life whom he hates, and Mahira is one of them. He adds that he previously held Mahira in high regard, but after she tweeted against him, his hatred for her intensified. He is more miffed about her as she was his friend, but instead of talking to him first, she went ahead and uploaded the tweet.
After Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar abused women on national television, Mahira Khan took to her Twitter account and criticised him for his stance on women. She even asked the fraternity how they could keep mum and not protest against such crass statements. She also pointed out that how a sick man like Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar is getting work after work. She further added:
"I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on TV is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame, if not more, for perpetuating this thinking!"

In the same podcast, Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar disclosed that he may only let go of his rift with Mahira Khan if she apologises. He also added that the apology needs to be public as the insult was. Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar seemed in no mood to let the bygones be and is holding on to the animosity.
