Real Housewives of Orange County alum Kelly Dodd has found herself in the middle of a scandalous controversy after reports claimed that she distributed unsolicited and explicit images of a woman in 2025, alleging revenge and threat as a motive. The reality TV star is facing serious legal trouble after being charged with "revenge porn" in California, and she could face jail time if found guilty. 

Dodd, however, has strongly refuted the claims, with her husband, Rick, backing her in a new podcast appearance.

According to court documents cited by multiple outlets, prosecutors allege that Dodd unlawfully distributed explicit images and videos of a woman identified only as 'Jane Doe #2' in August 2025. The complaint reportedly claims that Dodd "unlawfully and intentionally" distributed content that showed the unnamed woman engaging in carnal activity, despite an alleged prior agreement that it would remain private.

The material reportedly included private, explicit images and recordings. Prosecutors say that the woman involved has suffered severe emotional distress as a result of the distribution. The filing further mentions that the reality star used electronic communications to send threatening and harassing messages to the same individual. In addition, Dodd is facing a separate misdemeanor battery charge tied to an alleged incident involving another woman identified as 'Jane Doe #1.'

Kelly Dodd and Rick Leventhal respond to the explosive claims

The incident cited in the court filing allegedly occurred in August 2025, and Kelly Dodd has broken her silence on the now-viral news. During a recent episode of The Rick and Kelly Show, alongside husband Rick Leventhal, Dodd said she was "blindsided" when news of the case began circulating. Citing TMZ's report, which made her aware of this scandal, Dodd said during the podcast:

"I was like, 'What the actual F is going on here?' "

Leventhal also strongly defended his wife, arguing that early reports making the rounds surrounding the case misrepresented what actually happened. The former Fox News correspondent added that Dodd is eager to eventually tell the full story once legal proceedings allow her to do so. He said:

"We can’t tell you much right now because Kelly hasn’t gone to court yet. We can confirm that Kelly is going to court. We can also confirm that TMZ got most of the facts wrong, like, completely wrong."

Kelly also promised her listeners that once she appears on the court at Harbor, she will be able to tell the whole story on Patreon, which will possibly be next week.

The couple went on to discuss the case that has allegedly left them baffled and blindsided, and the RHOC alum shockingly suggested that someone close to her may be fuelling the controversy. Although she did not name anyone directly, the remark has sparked fresh speculation among fans about possible family tensions behind the scenes. Dodd said:

"I know it’s somebody in my family that is putting this stuff out there, driving this. And you [Rick Leventhal] know who it is... This is so insane."

Dodd also referenced a text message she allegedly received regarding the case and hinted that more details could be shared with subscribers of the couple's Patreon platform.

Kelly Dodd pleads not guilty to revenge porn allegations

In her plea submitted to the court, Kelly Dodd has entered not guilty to the three misdemeanor charges. The reality TV star left The Real Housewives of Orange County in 2021 after five seasons on the Bravo reality series. If convicted, she may face potential jail time for the misdemeanor charges. Dodd is expected to address the allegations in court.
