Kelly Clarkson Reveals How Her Kids Are Doing 5 Months After Brandon Blackstock's Demise, 'A Lot...'

Music talent manager Brandon Blackstock passed away in August 2025 after battling cancer secretly for three years. Brandon Blackstock was married to American singer Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022, and they share two children. Earlier, reports claimed that Brandon's passing left Kristy 'heartbroken', and now, five months after his passing, the singer opened up about how she and Brandon's kids are doing. For the unversed, although Kelly and Brandon were divorced, they used to co-parent their kids, a daughter, River and son, Remington "Remy."

Kelly Clarkson sat for a YouTube question-and-answer round on the official Kelly Clarkson Show channel, where she answered her fans' questions. Talking about her kids, Kelly Clarkson revealed that they are at an age where they can wipe their own behinds and also love to snuggle and cuddle.

Kelly further mentioned that a lot has recently happened, and she has allowed her kids to sleep with her. She further mentioned that she is surrounded by two furbabies and two kids, and it's really very close to her heart when these cute conversations take place. Kelly Clarkson could be quoted as saying:

"My kids, they're 9 and 11. Kind of that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they're still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles. There's been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit. It's my two dogs, my two kids and me. It's a lot. It's been really special, though, because... the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that's probably my favorite time of day."

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock were married to each other from 2013 to 2022, and even though they parted ways, they remained connected for their kids. Well, witnessing parents' split is the hardest thing that a child has to cope with, and the same with the ex-couple's kids as well. In an interview with Glennon Doyle for We Can Do Hard Things, Kelly added that her kids had one emotional dream about all of them being together one day. She went on to add that whenever there was speculation about Brandon being with someone else, or whenever there used to be a mention of the music talent manager, then the kids would be adamant about keeping their emotional dream alive.

Yet in another interview on Angie Martinez's IRL podcast, Kelly Clarkson discussed the same, adding that whenever she puts her kids to sleep, she asks them if they're happy. Kelly tries to make her kids understand the importance of being honest, and her kids often mention that they wish their parents could be together. Kelly revealed that she tries to make her and Brandon's kids understand that even though they are apart, their little ones are loved by them. Adding that she makes them feel understood, as she is also from a divorced family, Kelly said:

"I just sit there and I'm like, 'I get it. I'm from a divorced family as well. I get it. That sucks. But we're going to work it out. And you are so loved by both of us.'"

It was on August 7, 2025, when Brandon Blackstock passed away, and his family confirmed the same through a statement. It was in the same statement that it was revealed that Brandon had been dealing with cancer for the last three years, while TMZ revealed that the music talent manager was dealing with Melanoma, which is a serious form of skin cancer.
