The reason might be its relatively poor audience response. Another reason might be the rescheduling of the date when the movie was set to hit the theaters. Notably, Revolver Rita was initially scheduled for an August 2025 theatrical release, which might have prompted the filmmakers to opt for a December 2025 OTT release.

Revolver Rita plot summary and character details

Revolver Rita is a Tamil-language dark crime comedy starring Keerthy Suresh and directed by JK Chandru. However, on Netflix, the movie is available for streaming in multiple Indian languages, including Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. It is not yet available in Hindi, but English subtitles are available for those who are not well-versed in South Indian languages. Set on the streets of Pondicherry, the story follows the quiet life of 'Rita' (played by Keerthi Suresh), an employee at a chicken fast-food joint, which is suddenly thrown into chaos during her niece's birthday party.

At that time, a notorious local gangster, 'Dracula Pandian' (played by Super Subbarayan), accidentally enters 'Rita's' home while intoxicated and armed. In a heated confrontation, 'Rita's' mother accidentally kills him with a pressure cooker lid. Fearing a corrupt 'Inspector Kamaraj' (John Vijay) who has a grudge against 'Rita', her family decides to hide the body rather than report it. The situation then becomes chaotic as multiple notorious factions get involved. They include, 'Dracula Pandian's' son, 'Dracula Bobby' (played by Sunil), 'Andhra Don Reddy' (played by Ajay Ghosh), who wants 'Dracula Pandian' dead, and a group of mercenaries and killers for hire attempting to collect a Rs. 5 crore bounty on the corpse.
