Who is Kaziah Liz Mejo? The first Keralite to be Miss Universe India 2026
Kaziah Liz Mejo was born in 2007 and grew up in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She completed her studies at Emirates National School, St Joseph’s School, and Abu Dhabi Indian School. She began her career early as a teen. At the age of 17, Kaziah Liz Mejo became Miss Teen Diva (2024). Following this, Kaziah Liz Mejo emerged as the first runner-up of Miss Teen International 2025, and this year she is also the youngest to emerge as Miss Universe Kerala.
And now that she has become the winner of Miss Universe India, she has been winning hearts. Kaziah is a law student from Kerala and also an actress who debuted in Mollywood with the movie Shylock. The gorgeous lady is a trained classical dancer and is also well-versed in playing the drums and the violin.
Kaziah Liz gave a striking performance from the beginning of the pageant, and her story is even more relatable, as she's someone who reached the peak despite starting from low self-confidence. Yes! Earlier, Kaziah, speaking to the New Indian Express, revealed that she was someone who didn't have a single unfiltered photo of herself, and over the years, she built her confidence with the mindset 'fake it until you make it'.
The answer that led Kaziah Liz Mejo to win Miss Universe India 2026
During the last round, Kaziah Liz Mejo was asked to describe silence in her life. Her brilliant answer led her to win the title. The question was asked by Rajiv K Shrivastava, founder of Act Now, and Kaziah's response left everyone in awe. She said that, to her, silence is something she felt just before taking the stage, referring to the calm.
In her beautiful response, Kaziah said that since she was a child, she has fallen in love with the world of pageants and with stages, with microphones in her hand. According to Kaziah, the stage feels like home to her, and thus, when she enters it, she feels the calm and silence one can only find at home. Explaining the answer, Kaziah said:
"I fell in love with the world of pageants, with the stage, with the spotlight, having a microphone in my hand. But it seems difficult to believe, but I feel silence, and I feel calm, and I feel at my most peaceful self right before I enter a stage because I feel at home. To me, that is silence when you feel at home, when your heart lets you take a deeper breath, when your pulse comes down, and you know that you belong. And that's exactly where I'm standing today, India."
