For those unaware, Kaylee was best known for her role in the movie Godzilla vs Kong, which was released in 2021. According to reports, she was only 18 years old at the time of her death. No one had expected Kaylee Hottle to pass away so suddenly. On top of that, her young age just adds to the tragic nature of the case. The news of Kaylee’s death has now led people to look her up on social media, and it is her last post.
A quick look at Kaylee’s Instagram page reveals that she had nearly 50.1k followers and 9 posts. Her last post featured a poster that revealed that she would be attending the Northeast Comic Con. The poster had a collage of pictures of her as ‘Jia’ in Godzilla Vs Kong. In the caption, Kaylee wrote, “I am so excited to meet you all in New England soon! @newcomiccon.”
After the news of Kaylee's death broke, fans took to the comments of this post to share their tributes. One user wrote, “Left this world at an age far too young. Rest in peace, Kaylee. My thoughts and prayers go to her family. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.” Another wrote, “Rest in peace. Can't believe it. I hope it's fake.”
One fan who was in disbelief commented, “This is what I woke up to?!?! There's no way…I just can't believe it. There's no way…RIP little angel…I swear you were my favorite in these movies and I was so excited to see you and your character grow.”
Kaylee Hottle’s cause of death
It was Kaylee Hottle's father, Joshua Hottle, who announced that the young actress had passed away. He revealed that she died in a car crash. Joshua shared the tragic news in an emotional Facebook livestream using American Sign Language (ASL). In the livestream, he shared that he was flying to Maryland to bring his daughter’s body home.
According to him, the fatal car crash took place when he was visiting Texas. While there, he received a call from authorities informing him about the accident. However, this was not the only call he received. The second time that they called Joshua, they gave him the unfortunate news that Kaylee’s heart had stopped working when they were on their way to the hospital. Joshua captioned the 23-minute livestream video as “I am taking a flight that I never would like to take.”
For those who don't know, Kaylee had been born deaf. Growing up, she attended the Texas School for the Deaf. Her acting career began at a very young age, with her first project reportedly being a commercial. After a few years, she launched to stardom when she became a part of Godzilla vs. Kong. She has also appeared in Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire and Magnum P.I. Season 4.
Even though her acting career has now been cut short, when she was alive, Kaylee had the opportunity to work with Alexander Skarsgard. He even learned ASL to communicate with the late actress. Praising her acting skills, Alexander said in an interview:
"It’s her first movie. It’s fascinating how comfortable she is in front of the camera and how quickly she takes notes from the director Adam [Wingard]. He’ll explain something and she’ll be like ‘got it, got it,’ then she’ll just do it, and everyone’s like, ‘The f–k?' She’s so professional and … there’s so much going on on her face. Her expression and the subtleties of that is fascinating to watch."
