For the uninitiated, the memoir was released on October 13, 2026. In his memoir, Collin brought up several abuse allegations against his mother, Kate Gosselin. While Collin claimed that his mother visited him at a mental health facility only once, in a recent interaction, Kate denied the claim.

In a recent interaction, Kate Gosselin denied her son, Collin Gosselin’s claim about visiting him at the mental health facility only once. According to Kate, she visited her son at the facility every single time she was allowed to. Replying to a comment on TikTok, Kate wrote:
"I visited every single time the facility felt he was stable enough for a visit. Sometimes a visit was planned, but the facility canceled it because he was too unstable and it would have to be rescheduled."
In his memoir, Collin mentioned that when he was 12 years old and was staying at the mental health facility, his mom visited him once. At the time, he asked his mom to take him back home. However, Kate didn’t take him back home and reportedly said to Collin, "You broke our family. You are here because of you."
Earlier, in a 2025 interview with The Sun, Collin claimed that Kate sent him to the institution because he refused to appear with her on the Kate Plus 8 reality TV show following his parents’ divorce in 2009. He recalled that his mom, Kate, appeared to be disappointed when she saw him for the first time at the facility. She seemed horrified to see him put on weight during his time there.
Collin alleged that he and Kate had a stiff hug, and when he told his mom that he missed her, she reportedly ignored him. After they spoke to a doctor about his progress, Collin pleaded to his mom to take him back home. However, Kate allegedly told her son that it would not be appropriate and that his seven siblings were doing much better without him there.
In the recent interaction, Kate claimed that her son, Collin, had shown violent behavior, which led to him being admitted to a psychiatric facility for his own safety and the safety of people around him. She also suggested releasing his medical records. A fan defended Kate, saying that people are quick to criticize mothers while absent or irresponsible fathers often escape criticism. Kate agreed with this comment.
Kate claimed that critics hold her responsible for her son’s behavior and the treatment he received. She felt that people blame her regardless of the circumstances. She added that she had already said enough and did not feel obligated to explain herself further to people who criticize her. Earlier, in an interview with TMZ, Collin shared that he was disappointed that his mother, Kate, continued to question his mental health even after he had undergone three evaluations.
Collin expressed disappointment that Kate had not supported him in the way he believes a parent should. He felt that parents should care for their children, stand by them, and do what is best for them, but he believed his mother did the opposite. He said:
"Unfortunately, even alongside that, my mom still makes these claims. We want parents that support us and do the best for their children, but she’s unfortunately done the opposite."
