On March 27, 2026, his personal Gmail account was hacked, prompting intense congressional scrutiny of high-profile investigations. A pro-Iranian hacker group known as Handala claimed to have breached Kash's personal Gmail account. The hackers published a sample of over 300 emails spanning 2010 to 2019, along with his personal photographs and purported resume. The FBI officially confirmed the breach but said the information pertained to Kash's history and contained no government data.

The Handala group claimed that the cyber attack was a retaliation for the FBI's seizure of its web domains and the US strikes that allegedly killed Iranian schoolchildren. Since their confession, netizens have been curious about who the mastermind behind the hacking campaign was. Recently, theories have surfaced suggesting that conservative commentator and author, Candace Owens was behind the incident. As the chatter reached her, she sternly responded, taking a sly dig at Kash Patel's girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins.

Candace Owns faced 'mastermind' allegations in Kash Patel's email hacking row

Currently, Candace Owens has been the subject of speculative social media allegations labelling her a "mastermind" behind a cyberattack on FBI Director, Kash Patel's personal email account. On March 27, 2026, just hours after the hacking news got publicised, an X (formerly Twitter) user alleged that they had "disturbing information" about Candace. According to them, if any conservative person with a contradictory view has exchanged emails with Candace, they should be disabled or change their email address, as they might face a similar situation to Kash Patel. Blaming Candace for allegedly hatching the hacking plan, the online user wrote:

"I have received some disturbing information. I cannot share any details at this time as I am still trying to validate the information. However, if you are conservative and have exchanged emails with Candace Owens - especially if you've been on the opposite side of her on certain issues - I strongly recommend that you disable or change that email address immediately. Stay safe. Don't get hacked @dbongino @Kash_Patel @DataRepublican."

Candace Owens' hit back at hacker allegations by dragging Kash Patel's girlfriend

Candace Owens responded to viral speculation linking her to the hacking of FBI Director Kash Patel's personal email by mocking the claims and redirecting the spotlight onto his girlfriend, country singer, Alexis Wilkins. The commentator and podcaster dismissed the allegations as objectively hilarious and completely and utterly false, suggesting the rumours were just "another Alexis Wilkins chapter." Commenting on the post, alleging Candace to be involved in Kash Patel's email hacking, she wrote:

"Wait... I'm the mastermind behind Kash Patel's hack? Sounds like the beginning of another Alexis Wilkins' chapter book."

The sly dig at Alexis was the extension of a previous feud between her and Candace. On March 24, 2026, Alexis posted a 13-part thread on X alleging that a "foreign-linked influence network", including Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson, and Michael Flynn, was running a coordinated operation to destabilise the Trump administration. Candace, at that time, responded with a series of personal digs, telling Alexis Wilkins to "stick to country music" and adding, "you kinda suck at that too." Candace further dismissed Alexis' theories as "paranoid" and suggested that there was no conspiracy.

Besides the foreign-linked controversy, Candace Owens also had other disagreements with Kash Patel. She slammed him for his alleged use of taxpayer-funded FBI resources, such as government jets and security details, for Wilkins’ personal travel and performances.
