According to the latest reports, Karuppu is expected to release in June or July 2026, on the OTT giant, Netflix. Earlier, reports surfaced claiming that Karuppu will release on Amazon Prime Video.

The story of Karuppu follows 'Saravanan', a righteous advocate who stands as the protector of the marginalised community during a period of unrest. During this crucial moment, 'Saravanan' needs to confront his powerful enemies. Meanwhile, he also needs to cope with the emotional challenges tied to family, faith and social duty.

The film kicks off with an intense sequence in which the makers introduce Suriya as 'God Karuppuswamy'. Shortly after the film hit the theatres, cinephiles shared their reviews on X (formerly Twitter). A user wrote, "Positives: Suriya anna looks super stylish and delivers a great performance, especially in the 2nd half. Trisha got a solid role and performed really well in the film. 2nd half - 1st half Negatives: Sai Abhyankar's music felt very inconsistent, half average, half good. The villain could've been stronger. Overall: Best Suriya anna version after a long time. God mode. Watch it in theatres only #Karuppu." Another review can be read as:
"God descending upon earth to serve Justice and help humans is a genre largely unexpected. To see Karuppuswamy ride his horse from hell to serve justice is something never before seen, and this was pure peak satisfaction and goosebumps #Suriya #Karuppu."
