If you thought getting married in your mom’s wedding saree is the in-thing, then Kareena Kapoor is going to set a new trend in the world of Big, Fat, Bollywood Shaadis: the beautiful Bebo will tie the knot in her mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore’s wedding outfit. In simpler words, Kareena Kapoor will wear Sharmila Tagore’s wedding sharara for her October 16 wedding.
While the Heroine could have had her wedding attire designed by the best couturiers in India, she chose to follow the tradition of the Pataudi khandaan. Accordingly she’ll marry in Sharmila’s wedding dress. It’s a beautiful sharara, appropriate for the daughter in-laws of princely states, which Pataudi was. The red orange outfit has heavy zardosi work and gold tassels all over. It has a distinct royal touch to it in the form of broad hem and wide zari borders on the dupatta.
According to the TOI report (dated June 27, 2012), Sharmila and Kareena bond really well and have had long discussions over the outfit. Kareena has the option of making some additions to the sharara if she wants to give it a more contemporary look. Fashion designer and bridal fashion expert Ritu Kumar may be roped in for the purpose, who’s on very good terms with both Kareena and Sharmila. But sources close to the bride said that she might just wear it as it is in all its glory. Kareena will make a truly resplendent bride in the age old royal sharara.
