It was on November 24, 2012, when Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame, Karan Mehra and his actress-wife, Nisha Rawal had embarked on their happily ever after journey. Known for her role in Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki, Nisha had met Karan on the sets of her debut film, Hastey Hastey, who was roped in as a stylist, and dated for six years before tying the knot. In 2017, Karan and Nisha embraced parenthood with the arrival of their little angel, Kavish Mehra.

Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal had completed eight years of married life and are parents to a four-year-old munchkin, Kavish Mehra. While Karan was shooting in Punjab and Nisha was in Mumbai with their little one, rumours were rife for the past few months that their marriage was going through a rough patch. The Times Of India quoted a source saying, "Karan and Nisha have been married for almost a decade now, but things haven’t been going too well since the past few months. The two are trying to sort out their differences, and hopefully, things will get better. Just that they have not been spending time together owing to Karan’s work in the Punjabi entertainment industry."
However, Karan Mehra had denied the rumours back then and was quoted as saying by Aaj Tak, "I have no clue what led to these rumours all of a sudden. I saw this news today only and I have been getting calls from everywhere. When Nisha got the news, she had also cleared it. Even after that, I don’t know how these rumours started spreading." Now, as per the reports, Nisha filed a case against Karan, following a brawl and he was arrested by Goregaon police. According to a report in TOI, Karan and Nisha are going through divorce proceedings at a family court. Reportedly, Karan had pushed Nisha against the wall leading to a head injury, following which she filed a complaint. However, shortly after, Karan was granted bail.

It was in November 2020, when Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal had celebrated their eighth anniversary, and the latter had posted glimpses of the celebrations with the caption, "Happy 8th Anniversary @missnisharawal Gosh I can’t believe it it’s only been that long as it seems like a lifetime spent already. So much more to endure I tell you people. Jokes apart thankyou for being my Life Partner and my Soulmate and these 14 years of togetherness. Love you."

Nisha Rawal had given glimpses of their anniversary date and the celebrations at their home. Karan and Nisha had celebrated the special day with a photoshoot. While Nisha had looked stunning in a black balloon sleeved top with a matching lower and a belt accentuating her all-black outfit, Karan had complemented her in a white polka-dotted shirt paired with a grey jacket and matching denim. Little Kavish stole the limelight with his cuteness and was dressed casually for the photoshoot. Nisha captioned her posts as "This is US 14 years of togetherness 8 years of wedlock My @realkaranmehra Happy 8th Anniversary" and "Happy Anniversary to my Shontu Singh Pupchick & to my Punchoolee Balloons ke bina saara celebration adhoora!"
Back in October 2020, ahead of their eighth wedding anniversary, Karan Mehra had taken the nostalgic road to dig out a major throwback memory with his then-girlfriend, Nisha Rawal during the shoot of Hastey Hastey in New York. Sharing the picture with Nisha, Karan had written, "Look what I found. During the shoot of "Hastey Hastey" in New York, 2007 where we met. My behind the camera look...don’t miss the neckpiece." On which, Nisha had commented, "Such babies" followed by a love-struck emoticon.
