Bollywood's one of the most popular names, Karan Johar, is known by all. He has been in the showbiz industry for almost 27 years as a filmmaker and film producer and has given us many hit noteworthy films. Even though he has a successful career, it's his personal front that makes it to the headlines every now and then. Karan Johar never tied the knot, but he is a proud father to his two wonderful kids, Yash and Roohi, whom he welcomed through surrogacy.
It was in 2017 when the filmmaker, Karan Johar had stepped into the parenthood phase and embraced his two kids with all his heart. His twin children have turned 5 years old, and the doting father is acing his daddy duties with them. Karan Johar is an avid social media user, and he often shares glimpses of his kids to keep his massive fanbase updated with their mischievous activities. Recently in an interview, he shared the reason behind becoming a single parent.
In a candid conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Karan Johar opened up about whether he embraced single parenthood to fill the void of a life partner and shared that it's not about that. He mentioned that he felt the urge to become a parent because he was emotionally ready. Talking about the same, he said:
"You'll know you want to be a parent when you're emotionally ready. The two are not related at all. It's not that mere zindagi mein pyaar nahi hai toh main bache le aaunga."
Further going into the interview, Karan Johar revealed that people had thought it would be too much for him to handle, but he knew that he was ready to give away a piece of his heart to his children. Adding to it, the filmmaker shared:
"I think, they all thought that maybe it was too much for me to handle, given my schedule. I don't think they were saying it for societal reasons. But, I just knew I was ready to be a parent. I just knew I was ready to give a piece of my heart away. And which is what I have done with my two children. I think one big piece of my heart is them and one big piece of my heart is my mum. And I feel like that love quotient is satisfied."
Even at a young age, Yash and Roohi have already become internet sensations, and Karan's massive fanbase loves their cutesy adventures. Earlier, talking about how tough and challenging it can be to be a single parent, in an interview with Film Companion, Karan Johar had shared:
"Being a single parent is really daunting and scary. Because I think it takes a mother and a father to complete the upbringing of a child. In many ways, you could say that having Yash and Roohi is full of love but it is also a selfish decision. It is because I want that love for myself. There was a large empty space in my life that needed to be filled by children."
Karan Johar dotes on his children, and his social media handles are proof of the same. On the work front, he is busy shooting his film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
