Vijay Lakshmi, better known by her stage name Malika Rajput, was a singer-actress. She gained immense recognition for her supporting role in the 2014 crime-comedy film Revolver Rani, which also starred popular actress Kangana Ranaut. In addition, she appeared in a music video for a song, Yaara Tujhe, by Shaan. Moreover, she had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2016, only to quit two years later. Not only this, Malika also ran a YouTube channel, where she posted many videos.
On February 13, 2024, in a shocking incident, Malika Rajput was found dead at her home in the Sitakund area of Kotwali Nagar, Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances. As per reports, her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room.

According to a report on India TV, Malika's family members were initially unaware of the tragedy. However, it was when Malika's mother, Sumitra Singh went to call her due to some reasons best known to her, she recounted the harrowing moment of discovery. Revealing the same, Sumitra said that they had no idea when the incident could have happened. She shared that the door was closed, but the lights were on in Malika's room. Further, elaborating on the incident of discovery, Sumitra said:
"Earlier the door was closed. And the light was on. We took three rounds but could not open the door. At last, I looked through the window and saw that she was standing there. When I knocked on the door, I saw that our daughter was hanging. I called my husband and others but she was no more."
The investigating Police officer, Shriram Pandey and his team suspect that Malika's demise appears to be a case of suicide. However, they are awaiting the post-mortem report, based on which the further course of action will be decided. Thus, the circumstances surrounding Malika's untimely demise are under investigation, according to the officer.

As of now, it seems the family is in complete shock as they lost their beautiful daughter, Malika, untimely. No one knows why the 35-year-old singer-actress allegedly took such a drastic step. Moreover, if reports are to be believed, when cops reached there, the neighbours were trying to console Malika's mother. However, neither Sumitra nor other members of the family have named anyone whom they feel could be responsible for this incident. As per a report in Jagran, the singer-actress was living in Mumbai, and it seems due to some domestic issues, she was forced to end her life.
Coming to her personal life, Malika was married to her husband, Pradeep Shinde, for five years.
