DDLJ made us believe in the idea of love and also gifted us one of the most adored on-screen jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The film had launched Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol to superstardom and has been running every day for a record of 26 years at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir. DDLJ had won 10 Filmfare Awards and a National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

As DDLJ completed 26 years, its lead actress, Kajol, took to her IG handle and shared the iconic train scene from the film. She thanked her fans for loving and supporting the film over the past 26 years and wrote, "Simran caught the train 26years back and we are still thanking everyone for all this love #26YearsOfDDLJ."
While some got nostalgic with Kajol's post, a section of social media users trolled the actress for being insensitive. Kajol was questioned for maintaining silence over her best friend, Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan's arrest in the alleged cruise drug case. Taking a dig at her, one user wrote, "If your PR team did this, Shame. If you yourself posted this, Hurt! Your Best Friend is going through a lot right now, You post about this now when Aryan’s bail is rejected...? What’s wrong with you...?"

It was on the night of October 2, 2021, when the Narcotics Control Bureau had raided a party on a Goa-bound cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai and had arrested ten people and six organisers. One amongst the arrested was superstar, Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan.
On October 20, 2021, a special court was summoned for Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan’s drug case bail application. However, his bail was rejected for the second time. Aryan is currently lodged in Arthur Road prison in Mumbai after the NCB arrested him. On October 21, 2021, Shah Rukh Khan was spotted visiting his son, Aryan, in jail for the first time.
