Bollywood actress, Kajol is currently busy promoting her upcoming movie, Salaam Venky. Directed by Revathy, the film is inspired by the real-life story of Kolavennu Venkatesh and his mother, Sujata, who endures every challenge to help her ailing son live his life to the fullest. Now, in a recent interview, Kajol opened up about her character in the film and revealed if she is the same in real life as well.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Kajol talked about why she agreed to do the film and revealed that she strongly connected to the character of 'Sujata'. Mentioning that Sujata tried everything under the sun to give her child what he wanted, the actress shared that she would also do anything for her children. In her words:
“It’s not the kind of film that you can do without feeling strongly about it. I met Sujata, and there is simplicity and determination in her. Such characters are the hardest to perform because they are not loud and won’t grab your attention. She is so brave. Every mother believes that she is the only person in the world who will do anything to give her child what they want. I believe that I’ll do anything for my children, and that is Sujata’s core essence, too.”
Kajol is a fiercely protective mother to her two kids, Nysa Devgan and Yug Devgan. Time and again, her kids have to deal with constant scrutiny and brutal trolling. In the same interview, Kajol revealed how she explained the concept of trolling to her kids and said:
“You will always be protective about your children, but you have to understand that this is bound to happen. So, the four of us spoke about it. I explained to them that if there are two or five people writing negative things about them, there are 2,500 others who have said lovely things about them. They should concentrate on that.”
In the same interview, Kajol praised the director, Revathy for her unmatched patience and revealed why she never considered foraying into direction in her successful acting career spanning three decades. The actress shared that she doesn't have the temperament to become a director and added:
“To be a director, it takes nerves of steel and tremendous patience. Revathy has that temperament. It is a constant learning when you are around her. I don’t have the patience to be a director. I am clear I can never be one.”
Meanwhile, Nysa Devgan often gets targeted for her transformation and sartorial choices on social media. However, her mother, Kajol once opened up about her daughter's transformation and revealed if she opted for plastic surgery. Calling Nysa a beauty expert, Kajol mentioned that her daughter is a fitness freak just like her husband, Ajay Devgn, and she also applies a face mask thrice a week.
On the work front, Kajol's film, Salaam Venky will release on December 9, 2022.
