Kaia Gerber's family is gravely concerned about her mental state after Presley's passing
Kaia Gerber is leaning on family and longtime friends as she copes with the devastating death of Presley Gerber. According to reports, Kaia and Presley were exceptionally close. The siblings, who grew up together in Malibu as the children of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, were often described as best friends.
"She is heartbroken. They were like best friends," a source told Page Six. Another insider close to the family told the Daily Mail that Kaia is finding it difficult to comprehend that her brother is gone, and her family is concerned about how she is processing the loss. The source said:
"Kaia is very sad; it's hard for her to believe her brother is gone forever. It's not sinking in just yet; it's a lot to digest, understandably. Everyone in the family is worried about Kaia; they fear she won't be able to handle this, but she has a good network around her. She has old friends that are making her feel better."
The reports also say Kaia has been surrounded by a strong support system, including her parents, boyfriend Lewis Pullman, and longtime friends from her Malibu childhood. The Daily Mail reported:
"Her biggest allies are her parents and her boyfriend Lewis, even his dad Bill... She has plenty of Malibu friends, like a lot of old school pals that have reached out. She is well liked for sure."
The model-actress's famous friends have reportedly reached out, too. Kendall Jenner is said to have checked in on Kaia, while Kris Jenner reportedly sent flowers. Actress Laura Dern, who worked with Kaia on Palm Royale, was also photographed bringing flowers to her home.
Kaia was photographed outside her Hollywood Hills residence on September 25, 2026, appearing in public for the first time since her brother's death. She was accompanied by a friend, with both wearing sunglasses as they kept a low profile. She reportedly postponed professional commitments to take time to grieve.
Kaia and Presley Gerber were 'insanely close' to each other
Kaia and her older brother, Presley, shared only a two-year age gap and were "insanely close" and "way more than brother and sister," a source told Page Six. Kaia previously spoke to Vogue about trying to be the "easy child" while Presley required more attention from their parents.
The siblings remained close through every storm, and the family has always been a close-knit unit, being especially supportive of Presley, given his history of mental health and drug-related issues. A close source told the Daily Mail that Cindy and Rande went "out of their way to protect their daughter", as they "wanted to make sure that Kaia never encountered the same issues that Presley did."
In 2018, Presley had Kaia's name tattooed on his arm as a lasting tribute to their bond. About four months before his passing, he made his final public appearance to be there for his beloved sister Kaia hosted a launch party for her collection with Re/Done.
Presley Gerber's official cause of death has not been determined yet. He was cremated at the Rose Family Funeral Home on September 26, 2026.
