Justene Alpert Suffered Traumatic Abortion After Finding About Rare Disease, 'Prayed For Miracle..'

Justene Alpert has been going through the toughest phase of her life as she had to take the most heart-wrenching decision of terminating her pregnancy. For a parent, there is no greater pain than to make the decision to end the life of their unborn child. But Justene and her husband went through it as they found out that their child was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease. 

Justene Alpert revealed taking the traumatic decision of terminating her first pregnancy

Justene Alpert revealed that she rushed to a genetic specialist, who told her about the shocking moment of her life that her unborn child wasn't going to survive the pregnancy in December 2025, just ahead of Christmas. Justene penned a long note and revealed that she and her husband, Mason Trueblood, got the heart-wrenching news while she was entering her second trimester and was about to tell her family and friends that they were ready to welcome a baby. 

Justene revealed that the short phone call broke all her dreams, and it was hard to swallow. But the more difficult was the ultrasound when doctors pointed out the fluids and the organs of their unborn child. Justene tried not to elaborate on the condition of their unborn child, and revealed that their doctor told them that it was a high-risk pregnancy and that it was highly recommended to terminate it as soon as possible. She wrote:

"On December 22, my happiness, my light, was taken from me. I was pregnant and entering my second trimester. My husband and I were just beginning the rounds of telling our close family and friends and sadly our little tour came to a halt that day. Our baby was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease. They needed to rush me to our genetic specialist to confirm the nightmare. He wasn't going to make it to full term. It's hard to swallow this news because I was looking at his little heart beating on the screen."

Justene revealed that he had the most beautiful look, had his dad's nose, and was ready to welcome their child. She revealed that it was the toughest situation for her and never imagined hearing that she had to go through it. She penned:

"He had the most beautiful profile. He had his dad's nose. I was ready for him. But then they pointed out the fluid, the organs, etc. The specialist spoke to us not only about our baby's condition but the high risks that I would be subjected to as a woman my age. In situations like this I've always been a ‘shoot it to me straight' kinda gal. And then I heard the phrase that I never imagined hearing when we were ready to have a family, ‘We highly recommend that you terminate this pregnancy and we need to do it quickly if so.' Just then the light that was in me blew out. I almost describe the quickness as if you were standing on the side of the road and an F1 car flew by you."

Justene shared that it was hard for her husband and her; they tried to keep their pregnancy till Christmas, even, and wanted to celebrate Christmas with their baby boy. They fought through the grief day and prayed either for a miracle or a miscarriage, as terminating it wasn't easy, and it felt unreal. She added that no one prepared you for this, and no one talks about it.

Justene talked about the abortion, which took place after Christmas, and she was throwing up from the grief and trauma. Justene stated that they didn't want to make the decision, and they went through shame and guilt. She stated that it wasn't easy for them to talk about, as these situations are not received with empathy.
