Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleOlivia Rodrigo's song, Drivers License has its own separate fanbase. The song was loved and so much so that it won a Grammy as the Best Pop Solo Performance at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in 2022. When asked about the inspiration, Olivia often avoided the question and said that it's not that important to her, rather the fact that how many people could resonate with it and love her craft. While her take on the song's inspiration shows maturity from someone who has moved on from heartbreak, Olivia's fans were never ready to let this go, and continued to discuss the same.
The same happened again as Olivia's ex, Joshua Bassett, recently published his memoir. The recent controversy hinted that Joshua Bassett called out Olivia for the hate he received. To mention, even though Olivia never confirmed anything about the song's inspiration, speculations were rife that it was about the love triangle between her, Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter.

No sooner did the fans join the dots than they went on to bash Joshua and Sabrina. While the topic dates back to 2019, it got re-ignited again as Joshua recently dropped his memoir, Rookie. Several social media posts are out there that claim Joshua called out Olivia Rodrigo, claiming that he reached out to her and asked her to issue a public statement as he was getting endless trolling and hate, which eventually took a toll on his health and even led him to hospitalisation.

According to the viral posts, Joshua begged Olivia to give attention to this matter, and she ignored him, which eventually took a toll, and he was hospitalised in 2021 due to a heart attack and septic shock. A lot of Reddit threads have been discussing the same as well.

To mention, there's no such truth in the claims that are out there on social media. The actual readers of the book revealed that Joshua didn't name anyone, be it Olivia or Sabrina, in his memoir, and neither did he mention the track Drivers License. According to the actual readers, Joshua Bassett generally referred to 'a song' that brought overwhelming trolling in his direction. He did talk about the emotional impact of that particular situation rather than straightaway blaming someone.
Well, the reason that the fake claims are rife is that people used AI to summarise his memoir and got misinformed about Joshua, straightaway blaming Rodrigo. Some users even presented alleged messages from Joshua to Olivia Rodrigo as established fact, further confusing people. Thus, AI-led summaries and misleading posts led fans to believe that Joshua straightaway called out Olivia in his memoir, when in actuality, his book is about exploring trauma, addiction recovery, healing, faith, and moving forward, and it's written in a poetic form.

Olivia and Joshua dated briefly during 2019, and they brokeup abruptly. The reason for the same was not publicly disclosed, but during that time, Joshua's appearances with Sabrina Carpenter sparked a love-triangle theory around. While nothing was confirmed, Olivia released the song, Drivers License, whose lyrics could be read as, 'And you're probably with that blonde girl / Who always made me doubt / She's so much older than me / She's everything I'm insecure about.' Soon, the singer's fans connected the dots and believed that the reason for their breakup was a love triangle. None of these three has ever directly talked about the same, as Olivia continued to ignore talking about her inspiration.
