On April 12, 2026, we lost the most beloved and legendary singer, Asha Bhosle. She died in the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she was admitted, at the age of 92. A day after her passing, on April 13, 2026, Asha's family gave their loved ones the chance to pay their final respects to the singer at her residence. Photos and videos from the funeral showed a number of celebrities arriving and paying their respects to Asha, such as Jackie Shroff and Tabu. Many actors even took to their social media to post their tributes. However, what took everyone by surprise was WWE star and actor, John Cena posting a tribute for Asha Bhosle.
Fans in India of the iconic singer, Asha Bhosle, continue to mourn as her final rites took place this evening, on April 13, 2026, with full state honours. A number of famous names, including Shah Rukh Khan, Manoj Bajapayee, Hema Malini, Kangana Ranaut, and more, posted tributes for the singer on their social media, which goes to show how beloved she was in the industry. However, among the celebrities who took to their social media to pay tribute to Asha, it was WWE star and actor, John Cena's Post that came as a surprise to most fans in India.

A while ago, John posted a picture of Asha Bhosle on his Instagram, though he left the caption blank. Soon, fans reacted to his post, with most saying they did not expect John to post about the singer in the first place. One social media user wrote, “That's why John Cena is Greatest of all time.” Another wrote, “Thank you, John, for recognising another GOAT.” A third user penned, “It feels great when a legend notices another legend.” Another comment read, “The goat gives respect for another goat.”

On April 11, 2026, news broke that Asha Bhosle had been admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. It was widely reported that the singer had suffered a cardiac arrest. However, these reports were dismissed for good when Asha's granddaughter, Zania Bhosle, made a clarification post on Instagram. The note she posted could be read as:
"My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, has been admitted to the hospital due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection, and we request you to respect our privacy. Treatment is ongoing, and we hope everything will be well. We will keep you updated with positive news.”

Similar to Asha's family, her fans were also praying for her swift recovery. However, the very next day after she was hospitalised, it was revealed that the singer had passed away. It was during an interview with ANI that Anand Bhosle informed about the demise of his mother. He shared that the funeral would take place at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, at 4:00 pm on April 13, 2026.

Coming to the cause of Asha's death, Dr. Prateet Samdani, who was looking after the singer, revealed that she had passed away due to multiple-organ failure. He said, “Asha Bhosle breathed her last today in Breach Candy Hospital. She passed away due to multiple-organ failure.” On the day of her passing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences by taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account. His long note could be read as:
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known. Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world. Be it her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice carried timeless brilliance. I’ll always cherish the interactions I’ve had with her. My condolences to her family, admirers and music lovers. She will continue to inspire generations, and her songs will forever echo in people’s lives.”
