The actress took to her Instagram handle and revealed that she and Joey are no longer together. The actress also accused him of repeatedly cheating throughout their relationship.
Joey Badass revealed why he decided to go monogamous after settling down with Serayah
Joey was formerly polyamorous and had multiple partners. But after months of proposing to Serayah, Joey returned to monogamy. The couple also welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in June 2025. Joey also has a daughter from his previous relationship with his high-school sweetheart. On Cam Newton's Funky Friday podcast, Joey spoke about polyamory and revealed that it was a safe bet. The rapper revealed that he decided to go polyamorous so that he didn’t have to lie to his partners.
In the same interaction, Joey also stated that becoming monogamous again "wasn't forced" and "came with maturation." He pointed out that his previous relationships gave him different experiences and he wanted to try something new. But soon he realized that he wasn’t satisfied. In his words:
“I want to be 100. I want to be truthful. But then what I realized from that, in hindsight, was that there [was] a certain part of me that was not satisfied. I was unfulfilled. And I think I was using that to fill what I wasn't feeling for myself. And I was trying to use that to find it in other people."
Why did Serayah McNeill call it quits with Joey Badass?
Serayah and Joey Badass first crossed paths at a mutual friend’s birthday party back in 2021. Joey was mesmerized by Serayah as he thought that she was ‘strikingly gorgeous’. The couple began dating in 2022, but they kept their relationship hidden from the media. When rumors of them dating started circulating in 2023, Joey clarified that the two were just friends.
However, months later, he confirmed his relationship with Serayah, posting an Instagram Reel on her birthday with the caption, "happy birthday my love." In February 2025, Serayah revealed that she and Joey were expecting their first child together, and in June 2025, they welcomed their son.
However, on August 24, 2026, Serayah and Joey’s fans were shocked when the actress announced that she was ending her relationship with the rapper. Taking to her social media, Serayah revealed that she made the "difficult decision" to end things with Joey Badass, the father of her child. The reason for their breakup, as quoted by Serayah, was infidelity.
She claimed that Joey chose to betray her at some of the "most vulnerable and meaningful moments" of her life and left her to make the tough call. Serayah also penned that her intention behind sharing the reason for her split from Joey was not to gain sympathy. She believes there are too many women who are taught to question themselves before they even think about what's happening right in front of them.
Serayah explained that she would not be discussing anything else about their relationship publicly beyond what she has already shared. Despite her split with Joey, Serayah is not completely disheartened, as she ended her note with, “This chapter did not end the way I prayed it would. But endings can also be beginnings.”
