For the unversed, during an episode of his show, Jimmy addressed Melania Trump as an 'expectant widow' after the recent White House open firing. Melania didn’t let go of Kimmel's comment, and called out the ABC network to take strict action against him.

In the recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Kimmel was joined by Seth Meyers, John Oliver and Jimmy Fallon. Kimmel recalled his tiff with Melania Trump and its aftermath. During the episode, Colbert asked if any guests had ever anticipated being "doing a job that the president of the United States would have strong feelings about." To this, Kimmel replied:

“You know what's even weirder? Doing a job that his wife has strong feelings about. That's where it crosses over.”

In the same conversation, Kimmel revealed that he texted his fellow late-night hosts via a group chat following Melania's call-out on social media. Recalling the same, Oliver said:

"It's an amazing thing to get in a group text, just a text from Jimmy saying, 'Oh boy,' and then a picture of Melania mad at him. What a way to start the day."

Going further in the interaction, Fallon asked Kimmel how he felt after receiving the sudden ‘attention’ from the White House and the media scrutiny that followed. Answering Fallon, Kimmel added that only his fellow late-night hosts could understand the gravity of the situation and the attention he's received after taking jabs at the White House. Elaborating on it, he said:

“It takes 12 hours for the rest of the people in my life to even figure out that anything's going on. Two hours after that, a guy I used to work with sent me a text. He's like, 'Hey, do you know a real estate lawyer?'"
