While Jessica continues to grab plenty of attention on the tennis court, she has kept her personal life remarkably private. Over the years, Pegula’s tennis career has had its own share of ups and downs. However, it was her husband, Taylor Gahagen, who stayed by her side through thick and thin. He is a managing partner at both Dragos Capital and Agarwood Wealth.
Previously, he worked at Pegula Sports and Entertainment, the sports and entertainment management company owned by Pegula’s parents from 2013 to 2023. The couple has been together for more than a decade, but unlike many high-profile sports couples, Jessica and Taylor have largely chosen to keep their relationship away from the media glare. The couple was first linked in 2015. According to reports, Jessica and Taylor crossed paths through the Pegula family's business empire.
Jessica Pegula and Taylor Gahagen's love story
Jessica and Taylor kept their romance very private, but they sparked dating buzz in 2015 when the American tennis star shared a photo from a costume party she attended with Gahagen. While this picture was later deleted, Jessica’s Instagram handle still features a picture posted in 2016. That photo was taken during a date in New York City in September 2016.
It was Taylor who went down on one knee to propose to his ladylove, Jessica. However, it’s unknown exactly when Gahagen popped the question. Pegula was spotted wearing a diamond on her ring finger in early 2019. In an Instagram post from a trip to Prague in May 2019, Jessica could be seen wearing a ring while posing for a photo.
Following their engagement, the duo was supposed to wed in October 2020. But due to the pandemic, the wedding ceremony got postponed. During an appearance on the Tennis.com podcast, the American tennis player revealed that she and Taylor ultimately decided to push the special occasion back by one year in 2021. In October 2021, the two got married at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C. The intimate wedding ceremony was attended by the couple’s family and close friends, including fellow tennis players Jennifer Brady, Asia Muhammad, Taylor Townsend and Samantha Crawford.
Due to Pegula’s busy tennis career, the duo didn’t get the chance to enjoy a honeymoon until the summer of 2022. In July 2022, Jessica and Taylor jetted off to Costa Rica, where they had their honeymoon. During a conversation with WTA, Pegula shared that she is more adventurous than her husband. Recalling their honeymoon time, Jessica said:
"It was amazing, it was so much fun. We want to go back so bad. It was just the best experience. The people, the food, the lifestyle were so much fun."
Taylor is very caring and worries about Jessica. During a conversation, Pegula revealed that her husband worries a lot due to her careless behavior at home. Taylor apparently feels that Jessica doesn’t take enough care of herself. She was quoted as saying:
"I hit things all the time in the room. And then Taylor, my husband, just he just goes, 'Are you okay?' He's just like, 'What's wrong with you? I just saw you drill your knee and then hit your toe and then hit your arm and like?' And he's just like silent. He's like, 'You don't pay attention.' I'm like, 'I'm sorry, I don't care. Why do you care so much?'"
