And soon after the former NFL star filed for divorce in January 2013, citing that their marriage was "irretrievably broken". While he didn't mention what exactly went down between them in the eight months they were married, their messy divorce battle suggests it wasn't minor.
Jeremy Shockey's ex-wife, Daniela Cortazar, made some shocking allegations against the former NFL star after he filed for divorce. According to a report by TMZ, she had claimed that Shockey had violated a privacy provision in the prenup by posting a picture of Cortazar's butt on Instagram long after they split up.
While the picture was since removed, she demanded that Shockey pay her USD 15,000 for the violation. However, their allegations were just the beginning of their lengthy divorce battle.
Once the divorce was filed, the battle of financial discourse began. TMZ revealed that Daniela Cortazar wanted a piece of Jeremy Shockey's net worth, and the latter was not having any of it. To ensure that she doesn't get anything from him, he had already placed an iron-clad prenup between them.
After months of back and forth, a judge finally ruled in favor of Jeremy Shockey and ordered that the prenup was fair and reasonable. As a result, all he had to pay Daniela Cortazar was USD 21,000 for moving expenses, and she could keep the USD 19,000 he gave her during the divorce, calling it temporary support.

Now, coming to what happened between the couple in 2020, eight years after Daniela Cortazar and Jeremy Shockey parted ways, the former asked a judge to either fine her ex-husband or throw him in jail. According to TMZ, this was because of their ongoing battle over alimony. While the former NFL star had a solid prenup, Cortazar claimed that Shockey had not been honest about his finances with her.
