Jennifer Winget is all set to begin a new chapter in her personal life. According to reports, the Beyhadh star is preparing to marry her longtime partner, William Ishmael, in an intimate white wedding ceremony in the United Kingdom. As excitement builds around the actress' reported second marriage, fans have also been looking back at her first marriage to fellow television star Karan Singh Grover, which ended just two years after they tied the knot.

Jennifer and Karan's relationship blossomed from an on-screen romance

Once considered one of Indian television's most beloved couples, Jennifer and Karan's love story began on the sets of the 2009 soap Dill Mill Gayye, where they played the iconic on-screen pair 'Dr. Riddhima Gupta' and 'Dr. Armaan Malik.' Before they knew it, their on-screen chemistry blossomed into a real-life romance. The couple dated for several years and eventually tied the knot in April 2012. Their fairytale-inspired white wedding was widely celebrated by fans.

At that point, Jennifer was at the height of her television career. Although family, friends, and those in the industry warned her that marriage could hamper her professional prospects, she followed her heart. Reflecting on that decision years later, Jennifer admitted she ignored everyone's advice because she believed it was the right choice. She shared in an interview:

"There were so many noises around me. There were so many voices in my head... That decision of mine everybody questioned, including my parents, and I just didn't want to listen to them."

The actress revealed that love mattered more than career ambitions at the time. She was even prepared to leave acting behind if marriage meant starting a different life. "At that point, I anyway wanted to become a housewife, right? So at that point, if I wasn't getting any work, I was okay with it." Jennifer added that nothing could have changed her mind back then. "Even if God would have told me, 'No, don't do it,' I'm like, 'No, but I want to.'"

However, the fairytale proved short-lived. In 2014, just two years after exchanging vows, Jennifer and Karan ended their marriage. Their separation quickly became one of television's most talked-about celebrity breakups, with speculation surrounding the reasons behind the split dominating headlines.

Did Karan cheat on Jennifer with his now-wife, Bipasha Basu?

When the couple split, widespread media reports were linking it to Karan Singh Grover's growing closeness with actress Bipasha Basu, whom he later starred opposite in the 2015 horror film Alone.

When the buzz about Karan and Jennifer's marital life hitting rock bottom made it to the headlines, many claimed that Karan and Bipasha became friends while shooting, and they even went on a dinner date without their then-partners, Harman Baweja and Jennifer Winget. The speculation intensified because Karan's first marriage to actress Shraddha Nigam had also ended amid rumours of infidelity.

Despite the allegations, neither Jennifer nor Karan ever publicly confirmed that infidelity had anything to do with the divorce. Years later, Jennifer addressed the divorce with remarkable honesty. Rather than blaming just one person, she described it as a case of unfortunate timing and emotional unreadiness.

"I think both of us were not ready," Jennifer said, reflecting on her marriage with Bollywood Bubble. "It's not just him, or it's not just me. Both of us weren't ready to take that step. We had been friends for so long... it was an unfortunate timing." She also admitted that she struggled to understand what had happened and withdrew from the public eye to process the heartbreak.

Instead of rushing to move on, Jennifer spent nearly two years healing before returning to work with renewed confidence. Looking back, Jennifer has described that painful chapter as one that ultimately transformed her. "I became Jennifer 2.0," she said during an interview. "At that time it didn’t feel so, but whatever happened happened, and I’m so much better now."

Karan Singh Grover has also spoken about his past divorces, saying that while breakups are never easy, time helps people realise they happened for the best.

Following their split, Karan moved on with Bipasha Basu, whom he married in 2016 and later welcomed daughter Devi in 2022. Jennifer, meanwhile, focused on rebuilding her career, delivering acclaimed performances in shows such as Beyhadh, Bepannaah, Code M and Raisinghani vs Raisinghani while keeping her personal life largely private.

And now, TOI reported that Jennifer (41) is all set to walk down the aisle once again. Jennifer and her fiancé, William Ishmael, a Singapore-based businessman, are set to have an intimate wedding in the United Kingdom on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Years after her divorce from Karan, Jennifer is no longer the broken woman she once described herself as. Wishing the to-be-married couple years of happiness!
