What does JD Vance and Usha Vance's fourth child's name mean?
Second Lady Usha Vance and her Christian husband, JD Vance have allegedly put a lot of thought into naming their fourth baby. They named their baby boy Alec Neel Vance, which is as meaningful as it sounds. The meaning behind his name reflects a blend of his parents' cultural backgrounds and religious connotations. According to The Mirror US, Alec is a masculine name of Greek origin derived from Alexander. The word means 'defender of men' or 'protector of mankind'.
The kid's middle name, Neel is linked to his mother's Hindu culture. It reportedly has Sanskrit roots and means 'blue'. It pays homage to Usha Vance's Indian heritage and is traditionally associated with the sky, the ocean, or the Hindu deity Shiva, who is often referred to as Nilkantha, meaning 'the one with a blue throat.' American Kahani stated:
"The middle name Neel is of Sanskrit origin, derived from the word for blue or dark blue, used across Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, and Telugu."

Mirror Now, however, traced a different origin of the word Neel. According to the publication, the middle name has Celtic and Gaelic roots and is associated with meanings including 'champion' and 'cloud'. Usha and JD didn't just give their fourth child a meaningful, culturally significant name; all of their children have names like that. Ewan is a Celtic name, Mirabel has Latin origins, and Vivek is a Sanskrit name which means wisdom or discernment.
