Jayden Adams' girlfriend Aqueelah Adendorf remembers 'the love of my life'
Jayden Adams passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, but not much has been revealed about condition he was found in or the circumstances leading up to his death. Shortly after the shocking news emerged, Aqueelah shared a carousal of photos of the couple holding hands alongside a heartbreaking message.
"There are no words to describe the pain I'm feeling," she wrote in her message. "Rest in peace, my love. Thank you for every memory, every laugh, every hug, and every moment we shared. You were not only the love of my life but also my greatest supporter and my best friend."

Remembering the footballer's immense significance in her and their daughter's lives, Aqueelah concluded her tribute by saying, "A part of my heart left with you, and I will carry your love with me forever. Until we meet again, I'll miss you every single day... Rest easy, my angel. I love you always and forever."
Jayden Adams and Aqueelah shared a daughter
Jayden Adams was in a long-term committed relationship with Aqueelah Adendorf. She was known to be one of the most important people in his life outside football. Although she mostly stayed out of the public spotlight, she openly supported Jayden throughout his rise from Stellenbosch FC to Mamelodi Sundowns. She also sent messages of encouragement to the South African national team.
Adams and Adendorf were parents to a daughter, Allaia-Jayda, who was born in 2021. The midfielder often expressed how much fatherhood meant to him. He even consulted her and their daughter before completing his move to Mamelodi Sundowns in January 2025.
In one social media post celebrating his daughter, he wrote, "Alles wat ek doen is vir jou," which, translated from Afrikaans, means, "Everything I do is for you."

Adendorf was equally vocal in supporting Adams' football career. Ahead of South Africa's historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, she penned a heartfelt message celebrating his achievement. Just days before the tragedy, she had written:
"Watching you achieve something this big has filled my heart with so much pride... No matter how far this journey takes you, just know I'll always be your biggest supporter, loudest cheerleader, and safest place."
What is known so far about Jayden Adams' sudden death
Jayden Adams' body was reportedly found at a residential premises on Military Road in the Schotschekloof suburb of central Cape Town. Following that, the Western Cape South African Police Service has registered an inquest case to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. However, some unverified posts circulating on social media suggest that Adams died from apparent suicide or food poisoning.
Many believe the midfielder's death may have been a suicide, considering he had reportedly been depressed and "not himself" in recent weeks after the death of his grandmother. His partner noted he was having a difficult time coming to terms with the loss. However, the possibilities surrounding his death remain speculative as the investigation continues.
Before his untimely death, Adams was enjoying the best spell of his professional career. The 25-year-old helped Mamelodi Sundowns lift the CAF Champions League title before representing South Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup (Bafana Bafana's first appearance at the tournament in 16 years).

On July 11, 2026 (ET), just hours after reports of Adams' death, Norway and England players observed a minute's silence at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium in his memory before commencing the quarterfinal match. The South African Football Players Union confirmed Adams' death on July 11, calling it "an immeasurable loss" for his family, teammates and the country's football community.
Jayden Adams' untimely loss will linger among South African fans, teammates, and the football world as a whole. May he rest in peace.
