Jay and Mahhi made a joint announcement post on their social media feed related to their separation. They emphasised peace, mutual respect, and continued commitment towards their kids. For the unversed, Mahhi and Jay first met at a club. It had taken Jay 3 months to realise that Mahhi was the girl he wanted to marry. Now, amid news of their divorce, an old statement by Mahhi about forgetting and forgiving easily has gone viral on social media. The actress revealed that she always forgets and also forgives. In her words:

"I forget very easily. For me it is like if you have forgiven you should forget. Keep that lesson because agar aap bologe nai toh jab jab aap woh ensaan se miloge, kahi na kahi aap uss baat pe suspicious rahoge. You know it is better to forget I think. I forgive very easily."

When Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij revealed why they had an intimate wedding ceremony

Mahhi and Jay got married in 2010 in an intimate wedding ceremony. They are parents to two foster kids- Rajveer and Khushi, and it was in 2019 when the couple was blessed with a daughter via IVF. They named her Tara. The couple had kept their wedding private from the media and, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, explained why. Jay and Mahhi had a court wedding, which they kept hidden for a year until everyone learned about it. Mahhi addressed the same shared:

"Ek toh I don’t like hiding things and all. Mujhe toh samajh hi nahi aata woh sab. But somewhere he was 26, and all his friends were unmarried.”

Jay Bhanushali also revealed that he did not hide his marriage to Mahhi because of his profession. He shared that he was the stud in his group, and his friends used to tease him that he would get married at the end. Jay revealed that he felt pressured and did not want Mahhi to go, so he got married and told her to keep it a secret.

The couple added that for the sake of their kids, Tara, Khushi, and Rajveer, they commit to being the best parents, the best friends, and whatever else it takes to do what is right for them. Jay and Mahhi's joint note read:

"Though we walk separate paths, there is no villain in this story and no negativity attached to this decision. Before any conclusions are drawn, please know that we choose peace over drama and sanity above all else. We continue to respect one another, support one another, and remain friends, as we always have been. With mutual respect, we ask for your respect, love and kindness as we move forward.”
