The 12th instalment of Bigg Boss witnessed one of the most vichitra and unconventional jodis ever seen on Indian television. Yes, we are talking about 28-year-old, Jasleen Matharu and 65-year-old, Anup Jalota. Their 37-year age-gap, undeniably raised the TRPs but also attracted a lot of trolling on social media. Now, both Jasleen and Anup ji are evicted from the BB12 house but they continue to stir the headlines. Jasleen Matharu has now told a media house that her and Anup Jalota's affair was a prank for the show. She said, "As the show's theme was jodis, I suggested that Anupji come along; we were a guru-shishya jodi. But when Salman was introducing the housemates in the opening episode, I joked that I know Anupji for three years and that we are together. Anupji was taken aback and did not react. Had he reacted then, the matter would have ended there? I continued the joke inside the house, and he played along. But when he realised things were going too far, he was scared."
She further added, "I am 28 and he is 65. I was shocked that it had become a national issue. I Googled all that was written about me; I saw the memes about Anupji and me."
In another interview with the Hindustan Times, Jasleen opened up about her relationship with Anup ji and shared, "The truth is that there has always been a guru-shishya relationship between us. Before entering the Bigg Boss house, Anup Ji had called me on stage by referring to me as his shishya. Since it was a premier show with Salman Khan and Anup ji, I immediately thought of playing a stupid prank. I went on stage and cracked a joke that we were in a relationship since three years and are going in the house as a couple. I thought Anup Ji will react to the joke but he didn’t and in no time Salman sent us into the house. The prank was left incomplete and could not be cleared." Jasleen further added, "When Shilpa Shinde came into the house, she told me that the matter has turned into a huge mess. I got afraid and was hurt thinking that Anup Ji has denied having any connection with me. I didn’t know he got so hurt by my prank. A very embarrassing situation appeared for him and for my family. My father was very upset over this. Now I have cleared everything after coming out of the house and all is well."
Earlier, when Anup ji got evicted from the house, he had commented about the same in an interview with a media house, "People are not able to understand our relationship. We don’t have any kind of love story. We just share a musical relationship. She is my student and I am her teacher. I help her in learning music,” He further added and remarked, “There is no girlfriend-boyfriend kind of relationship between us and we are also not involved in any romantic and physical relationship.”
Adding further that Jasleen’s father is his very old friend, Anup ji retorted, “I know Jasleen and his family for a long time. A lot of times I have met them at the airport and at their home. But Jasleen and I hardly get time to meet each other. She hasn’t even met my family members yet.” In fact, before entering the Bigg Boss 12 house, Jasleen had told The Times of India, “This is going to come as a huge shock to my parents and friends as no one is aware of my relationship with Anup Jalota. We have been dating each other for the last three and a half years. We usually don’t get time to spend with each other in the outside world due to our busy schedules, but now with the help of Bigg Boss, we will get to do so.”
Earlier, talking about Jasleen and Anup ji, former's father Kesar Matharu had said, “I had no clue about this. I was told they were entering as guru-shishya jodi. She never told me about this. When they made the announcement, my entire family couldn’t believe their eyes. We all got very angry. Within ten minutes, I started getting calls from friends. My wife, while watching the show, got up and went inside. It was very unexpected”. He further went on to add, “He kept coming to our house, but I could never sense there is something cooking between the two. We never came to know when all this started”.
